i love finding out how big this world is. my girlfriend has only visited boston a handful of times, but i grew up here. i told her we'd be going to do the tourist traps in salem, and she said - which salem?
to be fair to her, there are a lot of other states that have a town named "salem." and i think there's some evidence that the witch trials actually happened in what is now called Danvers. but the thing is - she thought "salem" was like, a made-up thing. there wasn't actually a salem, massachusetts - like there isn't a gotham city.
they don't talk about it that much where she grew up, is the thing! and this made me laugh. a week ago she was talking about her hometown and said something akin to "well the museum's kinda like the one in richmond," and i had to explain i still had no frame of reference for what the hell this museum was like.
i love finding out what knowledge i take for granted. i used to live with 5 other women. 3 of them were from south korea. they had to take, like, a solid fifteen minutes to explain their birthday system to my gay math-blind ass, laughing as they did.
that same month, our roommate from denmark taught me the danish word for wreath by accident - she'd been talking about decorations, used krans, and i'd been able to figure it out through context. i just picked it up and kept talking. our entire house used krans as the word. she came home and slammed the door one evening, mock-angry, shouting: you motherfuckers! it's a - a wreath!
and how often do you use certain words, anyway! i am cuban, so i was raised with certain spanish words sort of sprinkled in there; but never how you'd think. in middle school i asked someone to pass me the recogedor - in a completely american accent, like i was speaking english. i hadn't registered it as a spanish word. i mean, how often in school do you actually use the word "dustpan" - i'd only ever heard it in the context of cleaning my house.
there are places that you grew up that you, just, like, know. that you assume everyone knows. there are things and people and "common knowledge" that you have that, just, like. doesn't exist for me. i don't know what you call your public transportation system, but in boston we call it "the T". our train cards are called charlie cards because of a song where a father accidentally abandons his family, which was written because our system of transportation. in boston, most people would snort and say everyone knows that, kid.
i think you and i should go on a long walk - it's getting dark early these days and we need any sun we can manage. tell me about the first time you saw snow. tell me about the stuff everyone knows about your home. tell me about the cities "everyone's been to," about the food "everyone's already tried." who knows. maybe it will feel nice to you - watching someone learn about it for the very first time.

SUMMARY: Shitty jobs are made worth it cause pretty, funny girls exist!(ig idk chile)
The Bakery! (link not working, will add soon!)
✮✮✮✮
“How the hell do you deal with that?”
Was what people would ask Terry when they saw you two together. You were loud, anyone could hear your laugh from miles away and your smile radiated bright happiness that annoyed most, especially in your field of work. You were enthusiastic about nearly everything, seeing the bright side to dark situations that some just couldn’t bear. Maybe that’s why Terry held onto you the way he did. He even gave you the nickname ’Sunshine’ to show.
Everything that was listed, he indeed was not. He was not happy go lucky, he was not enthusiastic about things he had to do and he definitely wasn’t looking on the bright side, for reasons that could probably be justified.
When he was happy, it was mostly because of you. You were best friends (or he was definitely YOUR best friend) and working together in close proximity made it so much easier for Terry to get use to you. It was hard for Terry not to crack a smile when you were constantly in a good mood, bouncing off the walls. You found the spots in him that were soft and poked at them until he gave in, you learned his humor and kept him laughing when he didn’t want to.
He couldn’t lie, he was growing accustomed to being with you, he could even say he loved having you around (he would probably never say that out loud) . He just couldn’t help but feel a little warmth in his chest when you were near, butterflies in his stomach when you made eye contact with him. Little did he know, you felt the same.
Your heart beat down on your rib cage faster than it was on your first mission. You loved a challenge, and Terry was exactly that, testing your abilities to be professional, dangerous, light on your feet, but also keeping your brand of being the happy person you were.
Whenever Terry came into work, even if it was just to train, you were up in his face cracking jokes like you hadn’t just ran two miles. Of course because he was a rank higher than you, he use to send you on about your way the first few times, a little annoyed with your presence and attitude until realizing he couldn’t get rid of you even if he tried. You were everywhere and the crew was slowly growing a liking to you too.
You were like a leech, as he would describe. A cuddly and cute one, but a leech nonetheless.
Coming up on the date of the official homecoming for soldiers, it was time to head back to your respective states and you offered Terry a day to spend with just the two of you, enjoying the scenery of downtown and all it had to offer..as friends, Which he accepted after a huff (which was obviously faked, his ass was happy you asked) . Somehow, Terry found himself not wanting to leave when night had came. Something he had NEVER felt before, and he hated it. He hated that he knew it was because of you too, nothing else. Hell, he didn’t even like the state he was in, he was ready to go when he landed.
Babysitting a beer in your hand, you two sit close around the fireplace of your apartment, or what was yours till tomorrow.
“Feel like we been here forever” He breaks the silence, sipping on his drink while staring at the flicker of the fire in front of you both.
You shrug.
“It kinda has been? Seven months, two weeks, five days, and 21 hours is a long time!” You nod, Terry giving you a look before stifling out the chuckle he tried so hard not to free. You smile, satisfied at how easy it was to make him laugh now.
“So!…You ready to go home to the missus?”
Terry raises a brow, swallowing the bitter drink in his mouth. “Missus?”
You hum, waiting for an answer, but he never confirmed.
“Yeah. I mean, you never said anything about a wife or a kid, but I just assumed-“
“Never said because I don’t have” He interrupts, laughing. He couldn’t even imagine what about him gave husband. He didn’t wear a ring, on the right finger at least, and he thought the flirting he did confirmed him to be single already..Or what he thought was flirting. The making sure you ate and drank every day and teasing about how many push ups you could do didn’t really connect the dots for you. You were looking for a more forward approach considering he was a blunt man.
“What the hell about me made you think I was married with a kid?”
You laugh along with him to save yourself the embarrassment. Truthfully, you asked on purpose to see if he was single or not. To your surprise, no one had snatched him up yet.
“I-…I don’t know. I just see a nigga like you and just expect it” You respond, the palms of your hands already sweating. Your body was once again defying you, you felt like you were in highschool again.
Terry’s laugh shrunk until it was no more and his eyebrows rose at your statement. “A nigga like me?”
“…Yeah. Ya know…” You trail off, shyly looking away. By now regret had already set in your stomach for bringing up shit and snooping in his business. It would have been easier to search his name in the database and read his files, keeping your stalker shit on the low.
“Hm…Elaborate, sunshine. I wanna know what that mean” He presses, his squinted eyes searching for yours, but you refused to give in and see what may have been rejection.
“Look” You huff, shaking your head. “I just mean…You are a very handsome man, and I expected you to be…spoken for? Can you even say spoken for when talking about a man?”
You both laugh, but tension was still thick in the air, you just didn’t know what kind of tension it would turn to. Whether sexual or awkward tension, your nerves were getting worse by the second.
Terry on the other hand seemed cool as a cucumber, his tongue subtly tracing the rim of his beer bottle as he thought to himself before taking his last drink, finishing the beverage off.
“I don’t think so, but still. I appreciate that…so”
“So…”
He tilts his head. You could see it all from your peripheral view. His strong presence demanded attention from you. It was like that while working and it happened to never change outside of it.
“You aren’t spoken for?” He asks, his shoulder softly bumping yours to pull an answer quicker.
You shake your head, simultaneously setting down your bottle.
“Not since a year ago. Maybe if it was possible to pack a niggas dick with you when you leave for work, it wouldn’t be inside your bestfriend, right?”
“…You shittin’ me?” He leans, almost shocked that anyone would dare to cheat on you. Not only because of the person you were on the inside, but also because you could be classified as a high threat even while ass naked. That’s just the type of woman he wouldn’t cross, even at his rank.
“Nope, deadass”
“Damn..” He mumbles. “Whatever nigga out here silly enough to let little miss sunshine walk the earth without being right behind her need his ass beat. Shit, i’ll do it for you actually”
You giggle. “You’re silly”
“Nah, I’m serious”
Who knew that conversation alone would end with you getting ate out by someone you considered a friend, someone who you looked up to just a little, someone who just admitted he’d fuck somebody up for you…maybe giving it up was justifiable.
On the couch with your legs spread to each side, you forced yourself to open your eyes and bask in reality as Terry began the journey of taking you apart and putting you back together again. He placed soft kisses around your lips and on your clit before he licked long strings from your entrance, then sucked, earning a soft gasp from you.
His hands gripped your thick thighs while holding them apart, his strength not allowing you to hide from him at all. He wanted to taste all you had to offer, his tongue doing all the hard work slithering inside of your warm walls as his nose nudged your clit. You tensed up with every nudge, watching as he freely put his face in it. He made it messy enough to admire when he pulled his mouth off of you, your pussy glistening like he just doused you in oil.
“Look at that, mmm” There was a grumble that came deep from within his throat. His green eyes on you made it so hard not to be bothered even with him not doing anything, your poor clit jumping with excitement as he spread your lips open.
“She happy to see me, huh?”
You moan and nod eagerly, bringing your hand to your mouth to suck on a finger. Terry smiles at that, sharp teeth flashing from under his lips. He just wanted to bite you all over.
“Yeah, I know. When the last time you had some?”
“I-I don’t remember” And you truly couldn’t. Nothing worth remembering.
“Yeah? Imma make sure you remember this shit” He ends off with a bite to your thigh, almost as if he was warning you for what’s to come before he dove back into your heat, slurping up your soaked clit. Your belly was doing summersaults, you could barely contain your volume. It seemed Terry didn’t care about his.
When he ate, he made noise. He moaned, grunted, groaned. He was having just as much fun as you.
Your legs had began to shake the longer he was down there, your hands gripping onto the top of his white tank since that was all you had to hold on to after he practically ripped your oversized shirt off of you beforehand, and you feared ruining the couch if you got to pulling on it.
“Yes, yes, yes! I’m so close” You struggled to keep your eyes on him even with his staring back up at you, low lidded and dark. They beckoned you to stay, but pleasure had came rolling through like natural disaster and wiped all thought from your brain, leaving you a shaking, blubbering mess.
His mouth pulled off of you and his hand moved in place of it, rubbing your clit in tight circles.
“Feel it, baby. Let it happen” He coos as you fight against his hand, thighs closing around his wrist which he just smacked away and kept at it until he felt he was done.
“Stop moving, let that shit happen, baby”
You felt like you were literally about to float to heaven, back arching up off of the couch just to get away from the overstimulation.
“Okay! Fuck!”
He moves his hand and allows you to go through the motions, twitching until that special feeling left your center. “Good job, pretty girl” A kiss from him was placed beside your opened mouth as heavy breathing left you.
He gave you time to recover while undressing himself, items of clothing fluttering to the ground until he was in nothing but his shorts.
Your eyes never left his length as it bobbed out of the bottoms. You hadn’t even noticed there was nothing under the shorts till now..So all of that print you were eyeing was all him. He was nothing little, nothing that you had ever seen before and it almost made you ask if that was all of it, hoping he had added something extra, if possible. You wanted to taste him, to lick up the dribbling precum from his tip and test if you could take him in your mouth first, but Terry desperately wanted to be inside you. You protested, pulling him in and stroking his shaft to solicit him into going your way, but he was stern, nearly completely ignoring your advances and lifting you to your feet.
You yelped, legs wobbly from your first orgasm, but you had no need to worry about falling because you were lifted off of your feet as fast as you got on them.
“D-don’t drop me!”
You begged, holding onto him while he bounced you to catch you in the right position to fuck you good, your legs swinging over his arms and his hands cupping your soft ass.
“I gotchu, baby”
He reassured as he kisses your lips. You could smell and taste yourself all on him, slightly sweet and herbal from the beer. All while sucking on his tongue, you felt the tip of him swipe against your entrance, your heart beating so hard in your chest that you were convinced he could hear it, and it was the same for him. He couldn’t wait to feel you, to be connected in other ways than just conversation and friendship. He longed to know what it would be like, and when he got a taste, there was no turning back from then on. Not that he would want to, anyway.
There was no way you were getting away from him. You were strong, but Terry was strong. The man trained relentlessly and always being on his toes payed off at work and apparently in the bedroom too.
Your thighs ached with a burning sensation as he bounced you on his long dick effortlessly, the tip of him kissing your cervix ever so slightly, but he knew good enough not to hit it dead on, fearing hurting you in the process. You appreciate the thoughtfulness, seeing as you were already losing the part of your brain that made thought out decisions.
“So fucking deep!”
You cried out weakly, nails scratching down his broad shoulders, creating red streaks he’d try to hide with a long sleeve the morning after, the feeling of you still dancing on his tongue as he got dressed. He grunts, palms squeezing the fat of your ass as his pace never seemed to falter. He was determined to get you there. To feel you cum around his dick so hard that the neighbors would wonder if you were hurt, that they would think about calling the cops just to check on you.
“Cmon, baby. You a big girl, take this dick like I know you can” He encouraged you sweetly, voice unshaken and stable as if the ribbon of release in the pit of his stomach wasn’t threatening to come undone, spilling his seed deep inside of you.
It wasn’t long until he decided to change the position and lay you on your stomach instead, a soft pillow placed underneath your hips to make sure you could meet his height and your ass stayed up right for him. Before he entered back into your warmth, he took his time to spread your cheeks and licking up whatever your pussy had started to drip, earning whiny, pathetic mewls from you.
He licked from your clit to the winking rim of your asshole, the tip of his tongue circling around it before going back down to your sensitive bud, teasingly suckling on it softly.
You drooled into your sheets. You knew you looked so damn stupid right now, but you couldn’t help it with how he was turning you every way but loose.
“Taste so fucking good”
He says from behind you, fully standing now with a hand in your silk press and the other laid directly in the middle of your back to help that arch. He didn’t even have to guide his dick into you, you were so wet and open for him already that all he did was wind his hips back to line up with you and push forward.
You could swear your breath was being sucked out of your lungs with each inch he dropped into you. It felt so good that you could almost ignore him pulling on your hair, forcing your head back to meet him for a slow, nasty kiss.
“Fuck- My hair, Terry!” You whined against his plump lips, one of your hands reaching for his wrist, but the tugging only made it worse for you. The sharp stinging in your scalp oddly satisfied something within you, your clit twitching at the newfound feeling.
“Fuck it. I’ll pay for it” He grunts, his teeth tugging at the bottom of your lip.
You both kissed with teeth and all as he fucked you, your ass loudly clapping back on his toned body with every thrust. He felt every motion of it, the waves clashing with his hips so mesmerizing that he couldn’t help but wanna stare.
As he pulled away from your lips, he opted to grab a hold of your throat instead, your moans immediately getting caught.
He made sure to grab you by the part where it was safe to hold, safe enough to where you could still breathe a little, but still got the sensation to feel held.
“Why-“ You managed to choke out, yet you couldn’t finish a sentence.
He cracked an almost cocky smile then moaned out a curse, his dick violently throbbing inside of you and reaching beyond what you thought was gonna be his limit.
“Why what? Spit it out, ma” He teased, his low cut nails almost scratching up the side of your throat when his thrusts got more fluid, the man putting way more wine into every collision.
You began to cry out, him muffling them slightly by letting go of you and pushing your head down into the bed. He only fucked you harder when your arch fell with your hips, your legs giving out as your pussy cried right along with you.
This position had you feeling everything. From the tip of him grazing your gspot to the veins that traveled up his dick and massaged your walls, giving you texture that you never felt before.
Him demanding a word out of you was like speaking to a brick wall. You had already came without warning, now you were just wetting up the sheets with incoherent words spilling from your mouth. He imagined you fucked out under him like this plenty of times before but he never knew it’d feel and look this good.
“Shit! Keep doing that and imma cum” He warns, but that’s exactly what you wanted. You wanted to feel him fill you up to the point you were leaking. You began purposely clenching around him, the first squeeze prompting him to lay a smack on your ass, and the second one making his hips stutter against you. He could feel himself becoming lighter, a swirl of heat blooming in the bottom of his stomach.
“Nut in this pussy, baby. Let me feel it, please” You begged hopelessly, doing your best to keep a good hold on his dick until he released with a loud groan, grinding his hips into your ass. You could feel each and every spurt of his cum being released inside you, warmth and fullness is what laid in the bottom of your belly.
“Mmm, fuck” His hips bucked one last time before he was pulling out with a grunt, large hands gripped on your ass and spreading you apart to see what he had done to you.
“So pretty. Push it out” He demanded, and you abided by it, pushing his cum out of you until you no longer felt full.

part one
You woke up to the sunlight gently streaming through the large window, temporarily blinding you. Stretching slightly and squinting your eyes, you reached out to the other side of the bed, only to discover that Terry was gone.
A wave of sadness washes over you at the thought that he might have left, but the sound of the toilet flushing breaks the silence. You bite your lip, watching him come out of the bathroom in just his underwear.
Terry meets your gaze and smiles warmly, causing your heart to flutter. "Good morning, beautiful," his voice was still thick with sleep. A wave of relief washes over you as you return his smile.
"Morning, Terry!" you said, slightly shy, as he returned to bed. You felt a rush of warmth as he wrapped an arm around your plump waist.
Terry began kissing against your neck, and you closed your eyes and bit your lip to suppress a smile. You instinctively tilted your head slightly back, giving him better access, while the warmth of his breath sent shivers through you.
Terry pulled away to look in your eyes. "You know last night was amazing, and I want to continue this. Nothing serious, just the fun if you're up for it."
You couldn't be disappointed that he didn't want anything beyond more than just a fling. After all, this was supposed to be a lighthearted, fun trip meant purely for enjoyment and without serious commitment.
"Yeah, that's fine," you replied, a small smile playing on your lips as you felt a sense of warmth between you.
"Good, come here," He said in response, his expression focused, and began pressing kisses down your breasts to your belly, moving slowly towards your pussy.
A sudden knock at the door startled you, causing your heart to race, and you asked. "Who is it?"
"It was Maya," She said through the door, and you turned your gaze back to Terry, who was between your legs and eating you out, eyes flickering with lust.
"Morning, babes! Breakfast will be ready soon, so please be done there by 7 a.m.," Maya said, waiting for your response while you bit your lip, holding on to a moan.
"Uh……Alright-Alright girl…..I’ll be...ahh fuck." You spoke softly, instinctively covering your mouth with your hand. You glanced down at Terry, who couldn't help but smile wide at your reaction.
"Are you okay?" She asked then her exasperated giggle echoed on the other of the door.
"Wait! Don't answer that; I think you're more than okay. I'll leave you and Terry to it," Maya said, catching you and Terry off guard.
You glanced down at Terry, who stared back at you with wide eyes; both of you bursted out of laughter.
-
You and Terry strolled down the stairs, dressed in fresh new clothes. Terry flirted with you, making you feel so flutter inside. When you reached the bottom, you noticed your friends gathered around the table, their eyes fixed on you.
Despite the obvious chemistry between you and Terry, you both maintained an air of casual indifference, acting as if nothing unusual was happening.
Your friends exchanged knowing glances, their expressions revealing that they could see the sparks flying between you two, even when you tried to play it cool.
Conversation flowed as everyone enjoyed their breakfast together. Soon, Maya stood up, her cheerful demeanor capturing everyone’s attention. With a smile, she began to outline the plans for the day.
"Alright, today, the girls and I plan to have a little spa day while y'all the boys go on jet skis. After that, we'll meet back here to relax and have lunch. Going out to dinner at 7 PM. So, let’s go, girls!" She said in one breath.
You and the girls went to get ready for your spa day. You waved goodbye to Terry, who nodded in return, You felt a bit pressed but understood the reason behind his change in behavior.
-
As the sun blazed overhead, Terry, Bryce, and Cam raced across the shimmering water on their jet skis, laughter ringing out as they navigated the waves.
The thrill of speed and the salty breeze invigorated them. After a while, they took a break and returned to the beach. Sitting on the warm sand, Bryce and Cam exchanged playful smirks while glancing at Terry.
"Congratulations, man!" Bryce exclaimed, a knowing look on his face as he turned to Terry.
"Why are you congratulating me?" Terry replied, tilting his head in confusion.
"It’s about time you finally got some pussy," Cam chimed in, a grin spreading across his face. Terry raised an eyebrow, a mixture of surprise and irritation washing over him.
"How do you both know about this? I thought y'all take the girls on the boat!" he said, his voice laced with frustration.
"Yeah. We went out for a while, but when we returned, we clearly heard both of you during the second and third rounds," Bryce said with a knowing smile.
"Right, fucking like rabbits caught up in the moment!” Cam chimed in, chuckling.
"She's was amazing, she's....." Terry trailed off, reminiscing about last night.
"Look at you, thinking about your girl. She got you whipped, huh?" Bryce laughed.
“She's not my girl,” Terry scoffed, rolling his eyes in denial as he leaned back on his elbows.
“Mmm…I bet you'll make her your girl, especially after all that wild shit you two did. You know they say the shy ones are the naughtiest." Cam replied with a teasing grin, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
"Look, we're just having fun; nothing serious. This is the whole point of this damn trip," Terry said with a shrug, attempting to hide his feelings.
"Be fo real with us, big dawg. You know you were down bad for her the moment you saw her." Bryce says.
"Right, I've never seen you like this for any girl; plus, you took her on a date. I think this is just beyond having fun, bruh," Cam responded.
"Okay, I really like her…a lot, but…" Terry trailed off, attempting to change the subject again.
"What do you both think of her? You've known her longer," he asked curiously.
"Uh, she's a great girl—sweet, smart, and definitely your type, man," Bryce said with a smile.
"Yeah, she’s a fantastic girl. You should go for it." Cam said honestly, and Terry nodded.
Terry is determined not to let the shadows of his past confuse him; he wants to ensure that what he feels is genuine and not merely a fleeting attraction.
-
After an incredibly relaxing massage, you and the girls were sprawled out in comfortable chairs, sipping herbal tea. The soothing atmosphere was cozy, but Maya couldn't contain her curiosity.
“Girl, are you going to spill the details or what? We’ve been waiting here like starving animals!” She said with a playful grin, leaning forward eagerly.
You chuckled softly, knowing you were keeping them on the edge of their seats. “Okay, okay!” you replied, holding your cup tightly.
“The date was absolutely wonderful. Terry was sweet and so charming. His eyes were mesmerizing, and his body, his mouth…I don't even have the words! Everything about him was just perfect.” You said, biting your lip, getting wet just thinking about him.
The girls exchanged excited glances, happy to hear every detail of your date made you feel.
“Wow, sis. I mean, we heard y'all," Sasha confessed, and you looked at them shocked, slightly amused.
"It seems Terry dicked you down good! We told you he was someone you need, right? Didn’t we tell her, Maya?”
“We definitely did! It’s so obvious. I mean, you're glowing, and now that he’s around. Maybe he’s destined for you, and you two will fall deeply in love.” Maya nodded with a smile.
“Love? Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. We're just fun, and it's lust, nothing more,” You said with a scoff.
“Girl, come on! You’re talking to your best friends here. From the first moment you saw Terry, you know he might be the one for you.” Sasha said
"I like him; I like him a lot. However, this is just a fling —nothing more or less. I’m not about to try to turn it into something deeper if he doesn't want that," you explained.
The girls exchanged glances, understanding you. With a shared nod, they dropped the topic and seamlessly transitioned to discussing the plans for the rest of the trip.
-
You and the girls were back at the villa and your phone buzzed with a message from Terry, prompting a flutter of excitement in your stomach.
He wanted you to sneak away and meet him in his bedroom. You glanced at the screen, a bright smile creeping across your face.
“I’ll see you two later,” you told Maya and Sasha, your voice filled with excitement.
Maya, always quick to tease, raised an eyebrow and said, “Going to see your fuck buddy, huh?”
Her playful tone made Sasha laugh, the sound contagious and full of warmth. You rolled your eyes good-naturedly but couldn’t help the smile that tugged at your lips.
“Shut up; I’ll see y'all later,” you replied, chuckling lightly as you waved goodbye to them.
A rush of excitement coursed through you as you went upstairs, eager to change into something pretty for Terry and to make you feel confident and beautiful.
You have undergone an outstanding transformation in your self-image lately. You feel empowered and capable of facing new challenges without the burden of insecurity holding you back.
Although you still consider yourself shy and did not expect your shyness to disappear completely, you have noticed a significant increase in your openness.
You find it easier to engage in conversations and express your thoughts, which enables you to embrace new experiences with greater confidence.
After a brief moment of hesitation, you stepped out of your bedroom and walked toward his door, your heart racing. You knocked gently and waited for him to answer.
Moments later, the door swung open to reveal Terry, who stood in a snug-fitting white tank top that showcased his arms, with hoochie daddy shorts that accentuated his dick print.
"Hey, come in, baby!" Terry said, his voice warm and welcoming, accompanied by a gentle smile that lit up his face. He practically pulled you in to enter his hotel bedroom.
Terry placed both hands on your back as you leaned up and kissed him, feeling a rush of warmth as he melted into the kiss. You moved the two of them towards the bed and pushed him down to lay on his back.
You bit your lip, caressing your hand on his crotch and causing him to growl and flip you on your back. He pulls you into a kiss, dancing his tongue along yours, making you moan.
You flipped him back on his back, grabbed his hands, and put them above his head. His light eyes sparkled with mischief, accompanied by a playful smirk on his lips.
"Oh, you trying to take a little control, huh, baby?" He teased, his tone dripping with playful challenge.
"I just want to take care of you, big daddy. Let me return the favor, please," you said, looking at him with sweet eyes.
"Fuck, how can I say no to those eyes! Go ahead, baby, take care of your daddy" Terry said with a smile.
You kissed him happily before taking his tank top off and throwing it across the room.
"Baby girl!" He whispered as you began kissing his neck, the warmth and the softness of your hands on his body causing him to shiver slightly.
You knelt before him and spread his legs, looking into his eyes. His gaze darkened with lust and awestruck wonder, staring back at you.
"You're so sexy, Terry," You whispered, massaging his legs as he was in awe of all of this dom side of you. It turned him on even more, as the shy girl he had met not even 24 hours before wasn't shy anymore.
"Mmm, you're so rock hard for me? all for me, Terry," You whispered, stroking him through his shorts.
He moans and says, "Yes, I'm so hard for you, baby. Fuck, I need more; give me more, sweetheart."
"Okay, I'll give you more since you've been such a good boy," You said, sliding his shorts down with underwear, and his hard, thick dick came swinging out, and you couldn't help to drool at the sight.
You throw his shorts with his underwear across the room before grabbing his length, storing him a little bit, and using his pre-cum before you start sucking at the tip to tease him a little bit.
"Fuck, baby, please, I need that fucking mouth," Terry begged with a moan that made your pussy wet. You decided that was enough teasing and took him entirely in your mouth.
You began bobbing your head up and down his dick while storing him. "Fuck, mmm…just like that baby," He moaned as you pop him out of your mouth, lathering his dick with your saliva
"Mmmm…so big and taste so juicy." You moaned about to take him back in, but he stopped you.
"Hold on, baby, let me see your tits," He said, grabbing your corset shirt and taking it off of you before letting you suck his dick back into your mouth and bobbing your head faster than before.
"Fuck, girl. Let me fuck that mouth; I'm still big daddy," Terry moaned, taking a little control back by grabbing your box braids and started fucking your mouth, making you moan, and your eyes started to water.
"Mmmm fuck, look at you….full mouth of my dick, take it, baby, take it," He moaned, gripping your braids tighter. His deep and alluring moans ignited an intense sensation deep within you.
You moaned, enjoying every minute it the top of his dick hitting the back of your throat; "Fuck, your mouth is so good," He moaned, popping himself out of your mouth with a gasp of saliva.
"You're my nasty girl, right?" He asked, slapping his dick against your face, and you stuck your tongue and let him slap it against your tongue.
"Yes, I'm your nasty girl, Daddy," You said giggling, looking up at him lustfully. You took back control and gripped him between your breasts, sucking while jerking them.
'Fuck, yes baby, just like that, you gonna make cum, girl. fuck," He moaned,
"Yes, cum for me, please I need it on my tongue?" You said, moving faster, still into his eyes, and began to suck the tip.
"Shit, shit shit, you're gonna be death of me. ahh, hear it come." Terry moaned as his eyes rolled in the back of your head, feeling his cum shoot everywhere.
"Yes, Terry...that's it, cum in my mouth," You said, sucking him in your mouth, feeling more cum shoot and hit the back of your throat, causing you to moan.
You sucked and stroked, getting every drop of his cum as much as you came, milking him dry.
"Mmmm…" You moaned licking him up and down, Terry slightly shaking in his legs from his intense high.
You left for a moment to clean your mouth, face, and breasts. Then, you returned with a washcloth to clean Terry.
You moved up to lay next to him, watching him still coming down from his high.
You felt a sense of pride for having left him breathless; his eyes were closed, and he was panting heavily as he gradually stopped shaking.
"I hope I didn't break you, Terry?" You whispered softly, nudging him a little, which caused him to let out a light chuckle.
"No, that was amazing; shit, you're fucking amazing, girl" Terry glanced over at you with a playful smile, then pulled you into a passionate, hungry kiss.
The kiss felt electric, lingering a little longer until you pulled away with a mischievous grin and crawled out of bed.
"Where ya going?" Terry asked with a pout, slowly setting up with his elbows.
"We have dinner tonight, so I need to pick out an outfit," you explained, grabbing your corest from the floor and putting it on.
"Or we continue what we started. Come on, baby, I need to feel that pretty pussy around me again; I'm craving it," Terry said, getting up from the bed and making his way over you.
You bit your lip, feeling his naked body towering over you and pressing his semi-hard dick against you. You wanted to give in, but you wanted to tease him like he teased you.
“Alright, but only if you can catch me,” you whispered playfully, a mischievous grin spreading across your face. Before he could grab your waist, you rushed out of the bedroom, laughter bubbling up inside you.
Your giggles echoed in the hallway as you sprinted away, knowing you’d face the consequences of leaving him in sexual frustration like that.
-
You wore a stunning dress that beautifully highlighted your curves. The small purple frills and various color designs contrasted beautifully with your dark skin, which glowed from the moisturizer you used.
Your box braids hung gracefully over one shoulder, framing your face, and your makeup was light yet glamorous. You descended the staircase as everyone chatted, waiting for the limo.
You locked eyes with Terry, who had a difficult-to-read expression. You grinned in response, feeling a mix of excitement and arousal.
"The limo is here," Bryce announced, his voice booming with excitement as he gestured towards the door. You all made your way to the limo.
"Is everything okay between you and Terry?" Maya asked, her voice filled with concern as she walked beside you.
"Yeah, girl, we're just playing a little game," you replied, giving her a knowing look. She nodded, understanding, and laughter and chatter filled the air around you.
You all slipped into the plush interior of the limo and settled into your seats, and Terry chose to sit next to you.
"You look stunning," Terry whispered, his voice low and sincere, sending butterflies fluttering in your stomach.
"Thanks, and you look mighty fine, T," you replied, biting your lip and placing your hand on his lap, which made him slightly tense in a good way.
You both locked eyes, a simmering connection sparking between you. Maya rolled her eyes playfully and said, “Ugh… can you two get a room?”
Her teasing tone made you and Terry chuckle softly, laughter warm and inviting. Terry leaned closer, wrapping his arm around your shoulders in a protective gesture.
“Just so you know, after dinner, baby girl, you’re gonna get it,” he whispered in your ear. A delightful shiver ran down your spine at the sound of his voice.
You looked into his pretty eyes, a smile creeping onto your lips, and softly replied, “I hope so,” as you gently caressed his crotch, feeling his erection beneath his pants.
The limousine came to a stop in front of a restaurant, and you and your friends got out. As you entered, the sounds of a live band filled the air. The dance floor was lively, with couples moving gracefully to the Latin beat.
Bryce led everyone to a large table near the dance floor. Once everyone was seated, a waiter arrived to take drink and food orders. Soon, everyone enjoyed their delicious meals while engaging in lively conversation.
"Let's dance!" you exclaimed, stepping onto the vibrant dance floor. Feeling the music's energy wrap around you like a warm embrace, the pulsing beat echoed in your chest.
You felt free and alive, completely letting go of all your worries and enjoying the night. Your eyes were closed as you felt the rhythm of the beat and a pair of eyes burning into you.
Gently, you open your eyes and meet Terry's gaze, noticing the hunger in his expression. You bite your lip and gesture for him to come closer.
He grins, finishes his drink, and joins you on the dance floor. You grabbed his hand, letting him get behind you, and placed it on your wide hip.
Your tongue was stuck out as your hips dipped and rolled in circular motions, switching between up-and-down grinds and glorious bounces.
You were backing your thing upon him, and he was taking it, matching your rhythm. You giggled, feeling harden through his pants, and you turned around and he had this lustful, dominating look on his face.
"Daddy needs me huh?" You whispered in his ear, making him growl and pull you into a passionate kiss, our tongues dancing together as his hands gripped your ass.
"You know I do, baby. Come on," Terry said, grabbing your hand and leaving the restaurant. Your friends watched both of you leave, laughing and knowing what you two were going to do.
-
When you returned to the villa, you found yourself in Terry's bedroom, tearing each other's clothes off. Your lips met again as he lifted you and took you to bed.
You gasped when he roughly threw you on the bed and moved on top of you. You are definitely gonna get it with the way he was looking at you.
A soft moan left your mouth, and Terry began to suck and massage your breasts. He already knew your body so well, how to turn you on and pleasure you.
Terry started thrusting against your legs, making you feel how hard he was for you.
"You feel that, baby; this is what you do to me. Got me fucking rock hard and shit."
Another soft moan left your mouth softly as you felt him suck your right erect nipple with his mouth. With him humping and sucking on your breast, it was driving you completely insane.
"Daddy, please. I need you now!" You begged, placing your hands on his head.
"How much you needed me, baby." He asked, "So bad, T, please."
Terry smiles lustfully. Spread your legs open to give him a better view of your wet pussy.
"Is this all of me? I'm the only one that makes you this wet, right?" He asked and you moaned with a nod. "Yes, Terry, only you!"
Terry slides his finger up and down your pussy to feel how wet you are for him, wraps his hand around the length of his dick, and slowly rubs himself against your wet folds, making a wet sound.
"Fuck!" You cried, placing your hand on his chest, feeling him sink into your wetness with one deep push.
Both of his hands were on your wide hips, digging his fingers into your skin as he began slowly, giving you the light thrusts first.
"Ahh, Terry, yes, right here!!" You moaned, clapping your fingers into his arms as his thrusted became desperately pounding, rougher, and faster than before.
Terry comes down to pull you into a kiss, but the kisses are sloppy and hungry and interrupted by your heavy moans.
"You feel so good around me, baby, you know that? You feel so heavenly," Terry moaned, pulling away and grabbing your neck, adding slight pressure.
"Yes, choke me, fucking choking me, Daddy," You moaned, holding his arm that was choking you.
"You like that, huh! You like getting choked like a good girl" Terry asked,
"Yes, yes, I do" You moaned and he growled, pulling out and turning you around to be on all fours and, without warning, thrusted back inside of you.
"I told you you were gonna get it, right?" Terry said, pushing your face down to have your ass up and give your ass cheek smack.
You mumbled a moan in the sheets, feeling the incredible pleasure he was giving you with his pounding thrust. You looked back and pushed yourself back into him, trying to match his rhythm.
Terry pulls you up by your arms and goes full beast mode. His groans and your moans got louder, the feeling of his dick hitting your sweet spot and sensations were overwhelming that you tried to run.
"No, don't run, take this fucking dick, baby. Take it like a good girl," Terry said, letting go of one of your arms and placing his hand on your hip to keep you in place while still fucking you in beast mode.
"Ahh yes, yes, daddy, I'm gonna cum-!" You whimpered, feeling your legs shake and tense up; your orgasm was almost there.
"Fuck, fuck, me too, sweet girl" Terry moans, gripping your braids and thrusting one more before pulling out, coming on your ass while you rub your clit, and within a couple of seconds, an intense orgasm comes.
You fall on the bed; Terry pants heavily, watching his cum dripping down your ass cheek; he moves and turns to fall on his back. You took a deep breath and tilted your head to the side to look at him.
His eyes were closed, and his chest was jolting with glistening sweat. You placed your hand on his chest as he opened his eyes to look at you.
Terry took your hand and kissed it softly before getting up. While he was gone for a few seconds, you felt a rush of thoughts come to your head.
You were quickly falling for Terry, and with each moment together, your feelings grew stronger. You felt uncertain about what to do next, and maybe some rules would help.
Terry returned with a robe on and cleaned you up. After he finished, you slid off the bed, gathered your clothes, and put most of them back on.
"Are you okay?" Terry asked, cutting out of your thoughts. You turned to him with a confused expression.
"Uh yeah, why wouldn't I be? I'm amazing," You asked with a slight laugh.
"Was I too rough?" With a furrowed brow and genuine concern across his face, he gently pulled you onto his lap, settling you comfortably against him on the soft bed.
"What? No, No. You were great, Terry. I love it rough" You softly spoke words of reassurance, your fingertips gently brushing against his cheek as you looked into his eyes, conveying comfort and support.
"Then why are you leaving?" He asked, leaned closer, his eyes searching yours, and gently took hold of your hand, his fingers warm against your skin.
You glanced down, noticing the contrast of his hand over yours—how his strong fingers enveloped your smaller ones, which felt intimate and tender.
“Well, I think we should avoid cuddling after just fucking,” you said, shyly moving out of his lap as your voice sweet yet weighted with seriousness.
“Cuddling feels much too intimate for what we have going on. I mean, this is meant to be a fling, right? I’d rather keep things light and uncomplicated.” You added.
Terry looked at you with an expression unreadable. "Uh… yeah, you're right," he responded, his voice trailing slightly.
Sensing the atmosphere shift, you sighed, “Okay, well… I should get going then.
You secretly hoped he would beg you to stay and confessed that he wanted something more than a fling but got nothing.
"See you tomorrow?" Terry asked with a bright smile that lightened the mood. You returned his smile, though it didn’t quite reach your eyes.
“See you tomorrow!” you replied, trying to sound cheerful. As you stepped out of his bedroom, you felt foolish for agreeing to this fling.
Reality hit you hard as you walked to your bedroom. How were you going to manage the rest of the trip without letting these feelings overwhelm you?

Roy Kent*Bus Buddy
Pairing: Roy x reader
Word count: 2511
Tumblr media
Warnings: pure fluff, Jamie flirting with reader, protective Roy, swearing
Masterlist here
at the same time that Ted got hired Rebecca had also decided she needed an assistant to enact her perfect revenge, so the boys often saw you walking around Richmond or at press interviews. Any time you entered the locker room wolf whistles from Jamie rang across the room followed by a loud ‘shut it’ from Roy. Usually, you’d object to Jamies actions, but the routine had become so common you found it funny especially when Roy dogged him into Keeley one time, and you saw him drag Jamie by the ear.
You weren’t sure why the tough and silent Roy Kent was so protective of you, but you were grateful to know walking into a locker room filled with men that he had your back. the longer you were around the team though you realised none of the boys would even hurt a fly.
still locker rooms or crowded hotel lobbies could get rowdy, and Roy almost acted as security, weaving you through the crowd and telling everyone to fuck off. any thanks you gave him were met with grunts, nods, or two-word answers.
sometimes you had to talk to Roy though, but you never complained. whenever you had forms for him to sign or events you wanted him to attend, sadly only on a work basis, he gladly complied without fuss. feeling his hand brush, yours as he took the pen from your hand or getting to secretly glance at his face as he filled out the forms was enough to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.
you’d convinced yourself your crush was harmless. after all he was Roy Kent, an absolutely loaded footballer with an exterior tougher than diamond. its not like you flirted with him or stared at him. well not on purpose at least.
this weekend saw Richmond visiting another stadium a six-hour drive away for their next match. usually, you travelled with Rebecca but due to some other things she had to get done this weekend, aka a spa trip with Keeley you were secretly so jealous about, she had decided to send you as a representative. however, this also meant you got to arrive at Richmond Friday afternoon with a packed bag and a bunch of rowdy footballers.
“Well look who our newest bus buddy is,” Ted said, putting his hands on his hips as you approached the gaggle of men. “Hope you don’t mind being down graded to ride with us bunch of savages,” he joked as he ticked your name off his clipboard. you really did appreciate Teds soccer mom vibes.
You laughed as you dragged your suitcase up to stand by Ted at the bus, “Please how bad can it be? it’s just a bus,”
“Yeah, but with these twats,” Roy’s voice made Ted jump, but you just turned and smiled, ready to say hi, but Roy just walked past you. He picked up his suitcase, tossing it under the bus before turning back and picking yours up and placing yours in with far more care than he had with his own. When you said thanks, Roy just nodded before heading onto the bus, assumably to secure the most isolated spot he could.
Ted let out a low whistle as Roy walked off, “He’s a charmer alright,” he said, his eyes scurrying around before leaning down to whisper to you, “If I didn’t know any better I’d think he’s sweet on you,” You laughed but before you could even try to deny it Ted was pointing at your face, “and if I’m not blind you my friend are blushing,”
“Shut up Ted,” was all you managed to say before Nate walked over and thankfully Ted knew better than to keep going in front of him.
while you were talking to Nate and Ted the bus all the players had arrived and assembled on the bus. you were the last to climb on the bus since even though you knew it couldn’t be that bad six hours on a bus was still a dire experience. “Oi need a seat love?” Jamie hollered from the back of the bus, already tossing his bag to his feet.
“There’s a seat by me,” Dani pipped up from a few rows in front of Jamie.
you laughed, trying to think who would be the least awkward seat mate. however, as you went to move forward, figuring Dani would be less out right flirty than Jamie you were stopped by Roy standing up from his seat and stepping into the aisle.
when you looked up at him, expecting him to say something, he just looked down at the window seat he had just given up. you smiled as you moved to sit down, “Thanks,” you said squeezing past him, “Thanks boys but I prefer the front of the bus,” you said before settling down for the ride.
Roy dropped into the aisle seat and while you knew he was trying to keep in his seat the bus seats were only so big, so your thighs were bumping into each other, “Thanks for saving me,” you whispered to him.
Roy chuckled under his breath, “Really think I’d let you get tortured back there like that?” he whispered back making his voice sound even sexier if possible. the bus set off only a few minutes later and now you were trapped in a bus with 25 rowdy men who instantly started talking amongst themselves and playing bus games. “Bet you wish you’d never got on this bus,” Roy said in a low voice but with all the noise at least you didn’t have to whisper.
“Nah I don’t mind, honest,” you said, settling into your seat, “Sitting in a silent plane with Rebecca can get awkward,”
“Sorry I’ve not got any champagne for ya,” Roy joked and for the rest of the ride you actually talked the whole way which is the longest you’ve ever spoke to him for. you were almost sad when the bus pulled up outside the hotel.
without a word Roy had grabbed your suitcase and his, walking into the hotel still wrapped up in a debate about which ice cream flavour was superior. “Checking in together?” The receptionist asked making you blush, and Roy clear his throat.
“Eh no, separate,” he said, glancing down at you but you wish he hadn’t since you knew your cheeks were flaming hot as you gave the woman your information. however, after getting checked in Roy still carried your cases, taking them up to your room with you in silence. He sat the bag down in front of your room for you as you unlocked the door, “I’m just down the hall. 203. so eh if anyone gives you bother or these twats are too loud tonight give me a knock,”
“Will do captain,” you said, trying your best to stay composed as you got into your room, shutting the door behind you so you could freak out.
the next day was too hectic to even think about flirting with Roy or even catching a glimpse of him off the field. however, Richmond had managed to secure a tie which for them right now was a big win. however, what was not a big win was the fact that you had to get back in the coach that day since the team had a bunch of press to do tomorrow at Richmond.
between the game, the press interviews, everyone showering and getting into clean clothes, and checking out you weren’t even set to leave till 10pm despite the game kicking off at 1:30pm. you were already yawning as you came down the lift to the reception.
most of the boys were also absolutely shattered. running for 90 minutes straight at full speed was tiring enough without also having to pack and do press. you had got to sit during the game, but you also had the job of Rebecca all day so now you really understood why she needed that spa weekend. “Bus said it’ll be pulling up in five minutes,” you yawned as you sat your bag down, “Head count time,” you said.
you felt like a primary teacher, but you didn’t care as you walked around, counting each player as you put your hand on their head. they were all too tired to complain and even Issac let you touch his hair. “twenty three,” you said, counting Dani before stopping, “Wow your hair is soft,” you gasped before continuing as Dani beamed from his seat, “Twenty four,” you said, reaching up to pat Roy’s head but you were too tired to see the way he smiled at you when you did, “Twenty five,” you finished, putting your hand on your own head making Roy chuckle quietly. “We didn’t lose anyone, great job team. now shift it, I wanna sleep,”
“You heard her twats, get moving,” Roy said, his loud voice shocking everyone including the hotel staff. at least it got the boys moving though. Roy cleared his throat as he glanced down at you, “Need a seat buddy again?” he asked as you filed out behind all the boys.
you smiled up at him, “Yeah that’d be nice. Its your turn for the window seat,”
“I don’t mind, you keep it,” he said as you finally got to the bus. the boys were all tossing their cases in and filing into the bus with very few mumblings between them. you were silently thankful everyone was exhausted, “Just don’t fall asleep standing,” Roy’s joke snapped you back to reality as he loaded in your cases.
“Fine but I make no promises about the bus,” you said as you walked to get on, Roy offering for you to go first. a sweet gesture to you and silently Roy was grateful for the chance to check out your ass. “This seat, okay?” you said, plopping down into the first available seat. Roy didn’t even reply as he sat down next to you.
Ted was the last to get on and while you usually loved his speeches today you just did not care. “Now all yall try get some shut eye. Six hours of sleep would do you all the world of good right now,”
“Yes coach,” rang out in a sleepy chorus as everyone settled in to nap on the bus for the night.
as you looked around you saw Jamie in the seat across from you with a blanket already pulled over him and Dani a seat behind you with an eye mask on, “I am clearly not prepared,” you joked quietly to Roy.
Roy looked over, seeing his fellow teammates who were used to these late-night busses, “You can borrow my jacket if you get cold,” Roy said quietly making you inwardly melt, “Not much of a blanket but it’s warm,”
“I’ll think about it,” you yawned, making Roy smile as he saw how you stretched away your sleep. or well tried to. the ride set off and you could already hear soft snores across the bus. any of the boys who couldn’t sleep had headphones in and you had never been more grateful.
you sat in silence, looking out the window as the head lights of other cars went past and let yourself sink further into your seat. you barely noticed when Roy shrugged his jacket off or realise how close to him you were getting but you could feel your eyelids growing heavier with each passing moment.
Roy however had noticed the soft snores coming from you when your eyes had finally closed, unable to fight sleep off anymore. he was thankful everyone was asleep or not paying attention as he got to look down at you sleeping on his shoulder with a soft smile. after a few minutes, sure you were asleep, he gently pulled his jacket over you like a blanket.
he wasn’t sure when he had fell for you or why, but he’d known for weeks now that he liked you. hell, more than liked. there was just something about you and right now you looked downright adorable as you nuzzled further into him. Roy slipped his arm behind your back, allowing you to properly sleep on him and his hand to rest on your waist.
usually, Roy was far too tense or pent up in rides home to sleep on the bus, especially with a team he just knew were desperate to draw something on his face, but Roy was surprised when he opened his eyes and sunlight blinded him.
the bus was pulling up to Richmond at an ungodly 4 am when Roy realised, he had fallen asleep, his head resting on top of yours. without thinking, still in a sleepy state, Roy pressed a kiss to the top of your head as he moved to sit up. however, when he saw you stir awake, he kicked himself internally, “Are we here?” you yawned, pulling away from him and Roy already missed the feeling of you curled up to him.
“Looks like it,” Roy said as you looked down to realise it had been Roy’s jacket covering you, “You uh looked cold,” Roy said, clearing his throat and thankful he had a beard to cover the way his cheeks grew hot.
“Thanks,” you said, a sleepy smile playing your lips as the rest of the team started to wake. “Did you manage to sleep?”
“A bit yeah,” Roy said, and it was as you shuffle forward Roy realised his mistake when you looked down at his arm, “Sorry bout that,” he mumbled, quickly pulling his arm out from where it had been wrapped around your waist.
“It’s alright I don’t mind,” you said, a smile toying your lips as you stretched to try wake up.
without anything else said, really by anyone, you all filtered off the bus and Roy went to get both your suitcases. Roy cleared his throat as he went to pass yours to you, a nervous habit you’d only just really noticed, “Do you need a lift up the road? my cars just over there,”
“If you don’t mind that’d be great,” you said, so relieved you weren’t going to have to sleep in Rebeccas office, “Don’t hate me if I fall asleep in the car though,”
“Couldn’t hate you if I tried,” Roy said as he took the suitcase back and began to walk to his car. you blushed as you followed behind him, climbing into the passenger side as Roy loaded the bags in, “You all set?” Roy asked as he hopped into the driver’s seat.
when Roy glanced over, he couldn’t help but laugh when he noticed you were already asleep in the car. Roy reached over, buckling you in before getting ready to hit the road. he’d dropped you off a few times from work so he knew the way already, but Roy couldn’t stop himself stealing so many glances at the sight of you. there was no avoiding his feelings now.  Roy Kent was in love.

I Need To Hear Your Voice…Can You Call Me?
Was the text message he sent you, which made you let out a long exhale.

I’m at work T [Deleted] Terry.
11:44pm
FROM: T. Richmond
I’m Aware. I’ll Feel Better When I Hear Your Voice…And I Know You’re Probably Saying That I’ve Got A lot Of Nerve To Say That To You Right Now…Yet This Will Always Be True, No Matter How Things Ended.
You were glad Terry can acknowledge that he did in fact have nerve requesting a call from you, when the both of you already had that final closure conversation weeks ago…however here he was back again, entering your life whenever he pleases.
Picking up your phone, after watching it ring for a while you debated about letting it go to voicemail honestly. You really didn’t need to hear many more angles about whatever situation Terry got fucked over in. Things seemed to be going well lately though, at least that’s what he tried to portray on social media…which was also new for him.
Always the type of man to be lowkey and out the way but after the exposure of being contestants on a certain love show, he stepped out just a little. It was never too much, Terry wasn’t the type of man to be in your face about his blessings but if things went south, then he had no problem stepping to you if common ground couldn’t be located.
“Hey,” He starts, his deep tone sounded as if he was ready to go to sleep, possibly lying down, whereas you were wired on your night shift, “Sorry for bothering you—
Rolling your eyes, you couldn’t help but to let it slip through your lips, “Are you though?”
He hummed, “Nope, can’t say that I am, to be real with you.”
“Well, can’t ever say you failed at honesty.” You replied with a hint of sarcasm which made Terry chuckle humorlessly, “What’s up? What was so important that you needed to be on my hotline right now?”
It was Terry’s turn to roll his natural underlined eyes but he’s not trying to pick a fight or even think about you with someone else, “…the house is too quiet and I couldn’t sleep. The first person I wanted to talk to, to ease the loud silence…is you. I believe that’s how it’s always gon’ be.”
Not long after you called it quits, Terry closed on a house that he’s been eyeing long before he decided to go on the show. It was meant to be if they couldn’t get it sold. He of course talked to you about it once you were out of the pods, saying how some rooms needed Reno and asked your thoughts on if that could be your main home once married. Thankful that you already had your home that you owned at such a young age, You spoke about how much you already invested in your home and how you had no plans of selling just yet even if you two chose to get married.
Which isn’t something that he wanted you to do but questioned how this would work. He wasn’t down with sleeping in separate houses, although Terry knew it would take time to get everything right, the house he bought was livable and he wanted that with you.
Something that Terry always admired about you is, that you had your own mind and drive to do what you felt was best for you. He respected it, had to really learn how to when you said you two needed to put some distance between you after a final argument got too heated.
“…I’m sure you’ll get used to it at some point.”
“I don’t know if I agree with that.”
Terry listened to you sigh.
“I’m going to say something you won’t want to hear but I’m saying it anyway,” you start as you lightly flick your feathered pen back and forth at the desk, “You’re going to have to get comfortable being alone in that house, Terry. I know you’ve been used to being a lone wolf majority of the time…but you officially settled somewhere now and you’re building a life outside of the danger you once knew. Which I’m proud of by the way but you’re going to have to start finding comfort elsewhere or with yourself because I’m not going to provide that to you anymore.”
Terry was afraid that you were going to say this one day. Usually you both were good at having balance when your relationship was solid, giving each other the space needed and showing up when needed. Everything just took a turn once the chaos showed up again at Terry and his cousin, Mike’s business. This was the first time Terry ever lied to you and that came at multiple costs. It blew up in his face because leaving you in the dark and not communicating with his fiancée? led to being stalked and a home invasion that still haunted you.
Terry would always be sorry for that.
From bliss to passion to heat to closure to yearning. It was all stages of what this relationship was, for Terry it was the process of your love story whereas for you, it was part of your origin story.
“What if I say…I’m finding that’s not what I really want?” Terry speaks, “…That I don’t see much of a future without you in it? We talked through that hurdle, we wished each other the best after the reunion but what if that’s not enough for me? What if we’re each other’s best?“
This was another side you predicted would happen. One thing about you is, your mind was always turning just like the earth spinning on its axis. Which took another turn in your argument, speculating things that weren’t true once you found out that Terry lied about some new men targeting him. You predicted that once you both tried to move on and live without each other, the other would crack. It happened before, a month after the reunion when his aunt invited you to her forty-fifth birthday party. Your friends told you not to go and that night made you weak for Terry Richmond.
So weak you couldn’t feel your legs for days, Terry knew your body so well, had no problem burrying himself deep downstairs in his aunt’s basement, green hues trained only on you, while having your legs in the perfect V over his shoulders, and that man was a mountain.
A dangerous one.
Now it was your turn to fully stand on business and the year was coming to a close so you didn’t need Terry to find new ways in.
That was supposed to be understood but you both fumbled that at the party.
You had enough time to figure out what was best. Of course you experienced the what if’s yourself, been as loyal as they came but a structured life of constantly looking over your shoulder was just not it to you. To no longer feel safe with the man you thought you would grow old with. Now you had the world weighing in on what they’ve seen on their tv’s and online—you can handle challenges—you worked as a nurse on the oncology floor, however you have to be smart enough to realize when it was too much and that was enough to walk away.
“At a time we were,” you finally answered before reassuring, “Everything you’re feeling is valid. I hear you. I’ve been there and got through that. You will too.”
Terry’s silence was as potent on the phone as what he probably felt like the inside of his home was. The scratching of the branch that was too close to his bedroom window was similar to the clawing you were doing to his heart. He didn’t want to lose you for good, call him selfish but he didn’t want to just forget the unique connection you built.
Although he felt disrespected with the way you spoke (yelled) to (at) him during your breaking point, he was willing to come back and work through it but ultimately it felt like there was no trust there anymore. Terry did feel like you were looking for a way out because you two were “too” good together, unfortunately this was too big of a situation to come back from.
The stubborn one out of the two, Terry can sense that you already had your mind made up. Two tough conversations were had, one behind the scenes and another for streamers to dissect and formulate their own opinions on, should have been enough but Terry always kept his cards close. You were his most precious one, yet you were telling him how to store it away back into the deck for good.
“Is this really what you want? To fully walk away?”
A hint of annoyance hits you and could be felt as you start, “We went over this—
“So us going two rounds that day meant nothing?”
Sure it did.
“Terry that was goodbye, you had to have known that. The last hurrah. So let me make it clear this time without raising my voice because I know you hate that—and I’ve been working on it—I’m cutting ties.”
Half expecting the line to go dead, you still find yourself holding your breath as the quiet goes deadly silent. Until you hear shuffling on the other end, Terry’s sitting up on the edge of the bed now, feeling a stress headache arrive right on both sides of his temples which then radiate to the back of his neck.
“I don’t want this to come off the wrong way…but I love you. I need you to know that.”
That was obvious but again, sometimes love isn’t enough.
“Don’t do that.”
“What’s that?”
“Trying to find other angles to make this work. We tried after the big argument—that spark isn’t the same and would never be the same.”
Terry huffs, “Maybe we didn’t try hard enough.”
Grasping at straws, was not necessarily in Terry’s nature. He also knew that statement was just not true. Both of you put your hearts on the line and this was something the both of you would have never taken so lightly.
“…don’t let your loneliness overshadow what can’t be managed. We been made our decision but this is me finally enforcing a boundary.” You inhale air through your teeth before continuing, “You are headstrong, very structured and lived a life that I know nothing about if it comes knocking at our door again. What happens if we brought kids into that? It’s not that I don’t believe you couldn’t keep us safe, it’s the fact that our lives would always be at risk even if it’s not something you intentionally brought to the table.”
“We take risks every time we step out the door. That’s what life is,” Terry tried to reason, “I tried to leave the life I lived prior behind me, which is why I like to keep to myself and not open up. You changed that. I know we’ve been over this countless of times…I just don’t know if I’m ready to completely cut the rope. To never have you around is…a scary thought.”
In a minute, it wouldn’t just be a thought.
“It’ll be as if before we met. I’m not saying it’s easy by any means but I’ve accepted the art of letting go. Ending access to each other for real this time, does not automatically mean we never loved each other or there isn’t any more love there. If we fell back into each other, it would be a repeat of all the pieces we wouldn’t want to live with. It’ll be hard to fake and deal with.”
“Deal with?” Terry echoed in a tone that oozed frustration, “I’d be willing to be a team.”
“Then why wasn’t that taken into consideration when those men shot up your business? Or me being stalked by one of those men at work? Then being followed home.” You felt your blood pressure rising at what you thought you forgave—but everything is a process, “Or when Summer and I went out to lunch, just to find out that she knew about the drive by before I did? Or how I almost got ran over on purpose in the parking garage at work? That didn’t feel like team work. I was in the dark when we needed to continue to be a piece of each other’s light from the damn sun rays. Being the last to know often, did not make me feel like a priority. I feel like that part of you, you wanted to shield me from all the time…so now I’m going to be a shield on my terms.”
Terry Richmond never wanted to be responsible for changing the trajectory of someone’s entire life in a negative way. Although you said the love shared wouldn’t just vanish, it did feel like you thought about it and had time to sit on it.
He could make this easy and give you what you wanted, should have and it was once something he actually agreed to. However people change their minds all the time and he never saw himself falling out of love with you.
It wasn’t about being trained, it was about being in love.
He clears his throat, “I had no intentions on making this conversation out to be difficult…I knew I’d get push back, it’s one of the things I love about you,” Terry says, “I just wanted to let you know that I miss you, that your voice is actually what makes me feel safe and probably always will. And that I hope I’d get the chance to love you more in every lifetime. That was part of what I wrote to you in our vows by the way and I still stand by those words. If I had more time, those words would be actions. I’d make up for it, if you just let me.”
Him saying that over the phone, did make you feel a way. It made the back of your eyes burn but the shield was already in the works of being fully up. You didn’t need to hear this, you never doubted Terry’s love for you but it was over, you had the scissors slowly running along what kept you connected. Terry didn’t get the choice to go back on the agreement, yes people change their minds all the time but there was no time to compromise.
“There’s no use in crying over spilled milk, Terry.” Is all you can say, leaving each other to listen to each other’s breathing before the man is finally hit with the call ending.
He’s left holding on tightly to his phone, taking in the sound of autumn’s whipping air outside of his home. Tossing the phone behind him on the bed, Terry gets to his feet, determination shining his in his eyes while he begins to put his mind elsewhere opposed to holding onto you.
As you sat at the front desk, you snapped out of the dissociation that wanted to creep in, to place your phone on charge. Then grabbed onto some scissors returning back to the craft project you were working on to help decorate this level of the hospital for the holidays.

Why are blinds in Vaucluse used?
Introduction: In the prestigious enclave of Vaucluse, where coastal charm meets upscale living, the windows aren't just portals to picturesque views – they are canvases awaiting the touch of elegance. Enter blinds, the silent maestros that dance with light, privacy, and style. But why exactly are blinds in Vaucluse used? Let's pull back the curtain and explore the myriad reasons behind their ubiquitous presence in this refined Sydney suburb.
Tumblr media
Coastal Sunshine Mastery:
Balancing Radiance Vaucluse's coastal location gifts its residents with abundant sunshine, a treasure that deserves to be mastered. Blinds in Vaucluse play a pivotal role in balancing the radiance streaming through windows. With adjustable slats, homeowners can effortlessly manage sunlight, creating a harmonious blend of brightness and comfort within their homes.
Elevating Aesthetics:
Tailored Elegance for Every Window Vaucluse is synonymous with sophisticated living, and blinds become more than mere window coverings; they are expressions of tailored elegance. With a diverse range of styles, materials, and designs, blinds elevate the aesthetics of every window. Whether it's the simplicity of roller blinds or the timeless charm of Venetian blinds, each choice adds a layer of refinement.
Privacy Preservers:
Shielding Luxurious Sanctuaries in a suburb where luxury homes are nestled amidst lush landscapes, privacy is a cherished asset. Blinds serve as privacy preservers, shielding these luxurious sanctuaries from prying eyes. Residents can adjust the slats to create a cocoon of privacy without sacrificing the beauty of their surroundings.
Temperature Harmony:
Cool Comfort in Every Season Vaucluse experiences a spectrum of temperatures throughout the year, from warm summers to cooler winters. Blinds contribute to temperature harmony by providing insulation and shade when needed. They become allies in the pursuit of cool comfort during scorching days and cozy warmth during chilly nights.
Preserving Ocean Views:
A Glimpse without the Glare for many Vaucluse residents, the allure of ocean views is irresistible. Blinds play a strategic role in preserving these views. By managing glare and controlling sunlight, they allow homeowners to enjoy the mesmerizing scenery without the discomfort of excessive brightness. It's a delicate balance between embracing nature and maintaining comfort.
Easy Maintenance:
Effortless Living by the Sea Life in Vaucluse is a blend of sophistication and easy living. Blinds, with their easy maintenance, seamlessly align with this lifestyle. The sea breeze and coastal air are no match for the simple wipe-down or dusting that keeps blinds looking fresh. It's a nod to effortless elegance in a suburb where every detail matters.
Versatile Design Choices:
Tailoring to Luxury Tastes Vaucluse is a haven of luxury, and blinds offer versatile design choices to cater to the refined tastes of its residents. From opulent materials to intricate designs, the options are as varied as the lifestyles embraced in this upscale suburb. Blinds become not just coverings but bespoke elements that reflect individual tastes.
Dust and Allergen Defenders:
Breathe Easy by the Bay The proximity to the bay comes with the gift of fresh sea air, but it also brings the challenge of dust and allergens. Blinds in Vaucluse act as silent defenders, preventing these particles from settling on surfaces. Residents can breathe easy, enjoying the purity of the coastal breeze within their homes.
Tailored Light Control:
Artistry in Illumination Vaucluse homes are showcases of artistry, and blinds contribute to this by offering tailored light control. Whether it's diffusing sunlight for a soft ambiance or creating a well-lit space for showcasing art collections, blinds become the artists that shape the illumination within these refined residences.
Eco-Friendly Energy Efficiency:
Sustainable Style in an era where sustainability is paramount, blinds in Vaucluse contribute to energy efficiency. The right blinds act as insulators, helping regulate indoor temperatures naturally. This not only aligns with eco-friendly practices but also translates to potential savings on energy bills, adding a layer of sustainable style to these luxurious homes.
Conclusion:
In Vaucluse, where elegance meets coastal allure, blinds aren't just window coverings; they are essential elements that contribute to the refined lifestyle embraced by its residents. From mastering sunshine and preserving privacy to elevating aesthetics and promoting energy efficiency, blinds become indispensable partners in the art of living beautifully. So, the next time you admire the luxurious homes in Vaucluse, remember that behind those stylish windows adorned with blinds is a tale of comfort, sophistication, and the pursuit of a life well-lived by the sea. Blinds in Vaucluse aren't just accessories; they are the subtle orchestrators of refined living, adding a touch of coastal chic to every room they grace.

Bad News Pt. 1=> 😢
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Walking into the room, my heart was crushed even further. All of the feelings I wish I could explain; I couldn't. Terry and his bags were gone. I hadn't even heard him leave. He didn't even care enough to at least say goodbye. After all these years, I wasn't worth a goodbye. Two seconds just solidified that this relationship wasn't worth any more of my energy.
I couldn't understand it. How did we get here? Had he always been like this? Was I that blind? I guess I was so busy trying to find love that I forgot the most important rule— love wasn't supposed to hurt. Then again, every version of love I've experienced was painful, manipulative, abusive, and damaging. So, maybe I found what I was familiar with. I mean, why else would I be so comfortable putting up with this?
But, what do I do now?
*2 hours later
The room was covered in crumpled and torn pieces of notebook paper. I have tried and tried to write this letter. My hands were stiff, and my head was throbbing. I just wanted him to know how I felt because my mind was already made up. I'm done, and this is over.
If he would've just listened, we wouldn't be in this predicament. If he hadn't said those words, there would still be hope in my eyes and love in my heart.
Better yet, fuck this and fuck him. He doesn't deserve a letter. This doesn't concern him anymore. I've already changed my flight for tomorrow morning. I leave on the first flight out. Since I no longer have anything to say to him, there is no need to wait. I can return to the West Coast and be at home with my Godmother and Godsister when I receive the news.
*The next day
“I will never like flying’. I don't care!” I said stepping out of the bathroom after showering. I was dressed in a pair of sweats and a plain black T-shirt. I had wrapped a scarf around my head to protect my hair during my shower.
My Godsister, Shante, was waiting for me. She was relaxed on the bed with her back against the headboard. Her satin black bonnet and black fluffy robe made her look so much like her grandmother. “What?” she asked turning her head towards me. “You look like Nana Elsie!” I laughed into my hand. “Shut up!” she said slinging one of the pillows at me.
I walked to the bed and sat on the edge closest to me. I was tired. I knew why she was in here. She wanted to make sure I was okay. Honestly, I wasn't. My life was shit right now. Leaving Terry was just another stab to the heart. All I could do was pray to God that I didn't lose anymore. I couldn't possibly see myself being any lower than this.
“You wanna talk?” Shante asked rolling on her side facing my back. “Not really, I just wanna wait until they call,” I said solemnly. My shoulders were beginning to feel heavy again. I didn't want to think about what the doctor would say. I already knew this day was coming.
After years of medical neglect and misdiagnoses, I was finally given a proper diagnosis of both endometriosis and PCOS. I had been ignored for years when I complained of a forever-growing mountain of signs that something was wrong. I was told to “lose weight” to alleviate my symptoms. When I lost the weight, nothing changed. Some symptoms even seemed to get worse.
I had grown tired of all the referrals and guesses. I had explained to my original primary care physician years ago that I suspected that I had PCOS. It was dismissed as anxiety and medical hysteria. I tried again with three other physicians to be met with the same fate— try to lose weight, take this metformin, exercise daily, change your diet, etc.
This could have been treated years ago if someone would have just listened.
*3 hours later
I was in the kitchen eating when my cell phone rang. I picked it up thinking it was the call I had been dreading. I was eager to get this over with. Just say it, and let's move on.
“Hello, this is Bella,” I mumbled into the phone. I was on the edge again. Trying my hardest to breathe and stay calm. “Bell, where are you?” asked Terry. “Terry?” I asked pulling the phone away from my ear and looking at it. Fuck! Why didn't I look before answering? Why didn't I block him?
“Bella, I'm s—,” he started to speak before I interrupted him. “Save it. I… I don't care anymore,” I said through tears. “Bells, I was—,” he started again. “No,” I said sobbing into the phone. “Could you just—!” he yelled into the phone. That was it. I didn't have to deal with this. I hung up the phone and laid it on the table in front of me.
Pushing the plate away, I laid across my arms crying with my head down. My Godmother and Godsister were both gone to work. That left me alone once again with my emotions— all of them.
ring ring ring
Not again. I picked up the phone in anger. “I don't want to talk to you!” I screamed into the phone. “Isabella? It's Dr. Moore. We need to speak about scheduling your surgery immediately,” he said in a startled tone. “I'm sorry, Dr. Moore. I'm having a…,” I said taking a deep breath. “I can call back if—,” he said. “No!” I blurted out. “Sorry. Please, tell me now,” I whimpered. I was flying between emotions faster than my body could manage.
“Well, honey. I'm sorry to bring you such bad news at this time, but we're going to need to remove your left ovary. The cysts were quite large, and… Unfortunately, the biopsy indicated they were cancerous. The safest option is to remove the affected ovary and all endometriosis deposits. Later on, we can discuss any further changes,” he said. “Changes?” I questioned while sniffling. “If it progresses any further, we may have to perform a hysterectomy.” Dr. Moore continued to talk, but I had dissociated from the conversation. This was it.
My mind was overflowing with questions. Will I be able to have kids? Would this even get rid of the cancer? If it did, would it come back? Would life ever be normal for me?
I don't know. I'll probably never know.
*Later in the day
ring ring ring
Hours had passed since the call ended. I didn't want to talk. I didn't want to move. I didn't want to think. I had planned my whole life around me and Terry's relationship— kids, a house, a minivan, a dog, all of it. Now, everything was gone. Maybe my mother was right, I am cursed.
ring ring ring
“Who is it?” I sobbed into the phone. “It's me, Bella. Baby, can you please just listen to me?” Terry pleaded over the phone. “Why, huh? What’s there to listen to? You said everything you needed to say,” I yelled. All of my feelings were being overshadowed by my anger.
“I didn't mean it, Bella. That wasn't supposed to happen. I love you. You know that!” Terry yelled. “I don't know that, Terry. If you loved me, you wouldn't have said it. You meant it with all your fucking heart. You stood on it when you left without saying a word. No goodbye. No sorry. Nothing. That's not love,” I blurted out. I was beyond tired of holding my tongue. “Stop being so fuckin' childish right now and use your brain. You're always so damn emoti—,” he said cutting himself off. “Nah, say it! I'm too fucking emotional, huh? Ain't that right, Terry?” I screamed again. Tears were streaming down my face falling onto the kitchen table.
“I’m always sick, and… and I'm… I'm always emotional. That's what you… that's what you said, right? THEN, WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU WITH ME?!” I screamed as loud as I could. I threw the phone across the room. It hit the wall and shattered. Good. No more phone calls. No more doctors. No more — Terry.

standing ovation - jamie tartt
fandom: ted lasso
wc: 2321
warnings: mentions of jamie’s dad and DV, spoilers for ted lasso’s mom city. reader uses female pronouns.
summary: reader sneaks into training grounds after richmond’s win against man city. seeing her is just what jamie needs.
author’s note at the end!
Tumblr media
There’s something in the air.
Jamie’s pretty sure Will sprayed some lavender shit all over the locker room again but that’s not quite what he means– he’s said goodbye to every single one of his teammates and all the coaches– and the locker room is now his and his alone. He locks away his dad’s ghost by locking up his phone, the simple message doing wonders to finish lifting that weight off his shoulders.
He wasn’t at the game. Or maybe he was, Jamie realizes now that it doesn’t really matter. A part of him will never stop looking over his shoulder whenever he visits his hometown for his dickwad of a father, but the older, bigger part of him knows Coach was right– his motivation doesn’t come from hating his dad anymore and it doesn’t have to. His forgiveness is for himself, for the little boy that had to build a mask to save himself from his dad, and for the man he is today because of him– and because of his mum, Keeley, Roy, Ted, his teammates–
The standing ovation at the end was more of a benediction than he’d like to admit. Everything about his hometown made him feel prickly; like he was a virus the town was doing its best to reject, and other than his quick visit to his mom Jamie expected the whole thing to be a disaster. The kids on the street, the people on social media, the rude assholes in the bleachers– Jamie thought that was all he was gonna get. Blind, thoughtless hatred despite Jamie trying his best.
He remembers Roy getting a standing ovation on his last game, while Jamie was still wearing Man City blue. He’d been appalled, unable to discern the possibility of someone hating you so much they respected you. All he’d ever gotten– from his dad, rival teams, his own team– had been everything except respect.
But they’d clapped for him. They thought him deserving of something precious and somehow it feels like permission. He can play for himself. He can come home without his dad’s ghost belittling him for not turning out the way he expected him to.
Even Manchester hasn’t been home in a long time. Sure, his mom and Simon are there, but Richmond has his family, too– his friends, his teammates, his–
“Excuse me, I’m looking for my boyfriend. 5’9 not quite 6 foot, sexy as hell, the most fantastic football player to ever walk on Earth?”
Jamie’s lips involuntarily twist up as he glances at the door. (Y/N)’s a sight wearing her Richmond TARTT jersey, looking disheveled and flushed like the rest of the city probably is right now after their win tonight.
Jamie doesn’t give a shit about the rest of the city, though. At least not right now. He cares about his girl sneaking in (with Keeley and Roy’s permission and advice, probably) to see him, normal sleep schedule be damned.
He laughs, loud and unrestrained joy lighting up his features as he hobbles towards his girlfriend, letting himself be enveloped in a crush-tight embrace.
“Did ya watch it?” he wonders, forgoing his usual shy demeanor whenever (Y/N) praises him and just allowing his excitement to overflow, arms going around (Y/N)’s waist and hoisting her off the ground.
“Did I watch it, he asks,” (Y/N) scoff is downplayed by her big grin and the way she wraps her arms around Jamie’s neck as he spins her around, fucked up ankle be damned. “I couldn’t take my fucking eyes off of you, Jamie, oh, my God–”
She’s kissing him deeply, unable to contain her excitement.
“You’re so fucking brilliant,” she whispers against his mouth, her hands at the nape of his neck making him shiver into her embrace, unable to get enough. “Oh, Jamie, that assist– the entire play for Colin’s goal? Your goal–”
“It was for you,” he tells as he drops her off, cupping her face in his hands and cheeks hurting with how wide he’s smiling. “I couldn’t celebrate but it was for you. For you and me mum, you were with me on the pitch the whole time–”
He stumbles a little as he drops her on the ground and (Y/N) tenses in his arms. She looks him over, suddenly worried. “Oh, shit. Your ankle, dumbass, are you okay? Fuck, did I–”
“Angel,” the nickname has her melting almost immediately just like he thought it would, a five-word weapon he’s never gotten tired of wielding. (Y/N) pouts at him, still concerned, and Jamie can’t have that, he kisses the expression off her face immediately. It should be illegal for her to be sad, no, sir. “‘s not even a sprain. It was probably the panic of bein’ in the same place as me dad, to be honest.”
Something steely flashes through her eyes, there and gone in a second, at the mention of Jamie’s dad. (Y/N)’s never been anything other than kind about it, but Jamie doesn’t doubt she’d beat the old fart up if she were given the chance.
The thought only makes him smile.
“Did you? See him?” she wonders cautiously. She’s touching him again after her moment of hesitation over his injury, hands doing soothing motions up and down his sides. Jamie fights off a shiver.
“Nah,” he says simply as if the thought of crossing paths with him didn’t have him toeing the line of a panic attack the entire three days they were in Manchester. “I don’t know if he was there, and if he was, I didn’t see him. I don’t think I care anymore. It’s for the best, really.”
(Y/N)’s expression brightens, though they both know they’re not done talking about it. Jamie wishes it could be as easy as turning off his phone and forgetting about his dad, but his skin already itches a little with the idea of getting a text back from him. He’s also no doubt that (Y/N) will hold him throughout it all.
“I did see me mum.”
“How is my favorite Tartt?” she teases.
“Happy,” Jamie says softly, always the most important thing to consider when it comes to his mother. Ever since he was a toddler and he gained acknowledgment of his dad’s actions; after an especially gruesome argument that ended with his dad breaking a few photo frames and plates, stumbling his way out of the apartment, and slamming the door shut, Jamie would climb on his mom’s lap and wipe her tears as best he could with his tiny clumsy baby fingers. “Yeah, she was real happy. And for me, too. Even before the match, she was happy to see me, happy to… jus’ happy.”
“That’s good, sweetheart,” she threads her fingers through Jamie’s hair to keep it off his face, his headband lost somewhere in his lockers or amongst the rest of the dirty laundry. He’ll have to tell Will to watch out for it, he’s a little attached to it after the night he’s had.
Jamie’s usually not the one to believe in lucky garments or charms but– well. He feels pretty lucky right now; that (Y/N) saw some worth in him when they met and makes the choice to love him and come home to him, day after day, whatever the outcome may be.
(Y/N) looks at him adoringly like she knows what he’s thinking. “Did’ya get your wings back, then?”
Jamie grasps her hand in his and turns to kiss the inside of her wrist, only slipping a little bit of tongue. “Nah. They was never gone. All I needed was a little help to see.”
He frowns before (Y/N) can answer. “I was gonna say something stupid like ‘you’re me wings’ but that’s disgusting and I hate it. I would never say something like that. ‘m not Roy.”
(Y/N)’s laugh is surprised and comes deep from her belly. “Are you telling me Roy Kent’s a secret romantic?”
“Big old softie, that tosser,” he rolls his eyes. “He snuck you in for me, didn’t he? That’s all you need to know about–”
(Y/N) shuts him up with a kiss just because she can, and they’re both smiling too hard for it to be a proper one.
She says “He likes you. He’s proud of you. We’re all so proud of you,” while peppering kisses all over his face, landing on his cheeks, nose, temple, jaw, and corner of his mouth. “You’re so, so good, Jamie, I love you so much.”
“I love you, too,” he says, because there’s not gonna be a single time in which she tells him that and he doesn’t reciprocate. “Mum said that, too. And Keeley and Roy. And Coach, too, I guess, in his own way. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them.”
“I can’t believe I missed it,” (Y/N) pouts and beats herself up over it for the thousandth time. Jamie presses a kiss to the space between her eyes for the thousandth time in response. “I should’ve been there, I should’ve told my boss to go to hell–”
“You’re here,” he tells her, shaking her a little by the shoulders and looking her over like he can’t quite believe it. That she’s here in the locker room, in his life, loving him like he’s always desperately wished for but never thought he’d deserve. “What was I gonna do, put my dumb ankle into ice and sit alone in the dark?”
“‘m sure Roy and Keeley would be here drinking champagne with you if I wasn’t here.”
“And what could we be doing that is keeping them away right now?” he raises his brows, sneaking a hand down her back lower, lower, lower–
(Y/N) slaps his chest, though a gleam in her eye tells him she’s not saying no to anything. “You’re…” she drifts off.
He smirks cockily. “Unbelievable?”
(Y/N) shakes her head imperceptively. “Nah. I always knew you could do it. But you’re breathtaking, I’ll give you that. As if your ego needs it.”
Jamie’s mouth softens into a smile, soft and apologetic. “I’m sorry.”
(Y/N) frowns a little at the sudden shift in conversation. “Whatever for?”
“I’ve been a dick these past couple of weeks–”
He had. (Y/N) won’t let him admit it but he wasn’t lying when he told Roy he wasn’t doing well. Not eating, not sleeping, waving off (Y/N)’s concern with a little too cold shoulder. It made him feel a little too much like his dad, and that thought only dragged him further down.
It had been (Y/N) who suggested Jamie pay a visit to his mom while in town for the game, and when he’d mentioned this to her she’d smiled knowingly, ran a hand through his hair, and made him promise an introduction soon.
“You were anxious,” she corrects him with a shake of the head, won’t let him speak ill of himself when all he did was have a normal, human reaction to a very triggering situation. “And I’ve been worried about you but you don’t have to apologize, Jamie. Not to me, not in a million years.”
“Alright,” he says, soft and charmed. He soothes his thumb over her knuckles, featherlight. He looks down at their intertwined hands for a beat or two, gently swinging them back and forth. “Then can I apologize for shutting you out? I know you were only trying to help. I’ll do better next time at letting you know what I need.”
“And I’ll do better at listening,” she assures him with an indulgent smile, using her free hand to trace the Richmond crest of his shirt. “Look at us, communicating and shit.”
Jamie scrunches his nose in faux disgust. “Gross,” he says, but even the facade is too much to keep up when (Y/N) nudges his nose with hers. His lips tilt upwards against his best intentions, drunk on her presence and something inside his chest brimming with unstirred delight.
(Y/N) exhales against his mouth. She hasn’t been more than a few inches away from him since she came down to meet him, always touching him.
“What do you wanna do, huh?” she asks him, pulling at the bottom of his shirt. “Anything you want. We can go get some takeout from that burger place you like or maybe something fancier? We can go home and get some ice on that ankle–”
“It’s nothin’–”
“I’ll believe it when I see it,” by that, she means when the team doctor gives him the all clear and he isn’t limping slightly with every step he takes. It’ll take a while but Jamie can take it, especially if any downtime comes with them spending the days together. She makes a questioning hum. “But we can do that tomorrow, then. Tonight, whatever you want. You’ve earned it.”
And Jamie does feel like a winner. Not only because of the three points they managed to steal from Man City but because he gets to come home to this. He gets to leave his dad behind in Manchester and his mom in safe hands, he gets to accomplish his dream for himself and the people that love him instead of trying to prove someone who hurt him wrong.
He gets to live for himself. Coach Lasso was right, him forgiving his father was the kindest thing he could do for himself.
“I want this,” he murmurs against her temple, breathing in the smell of her perfume and taking in the warmth of her body against his. “I got all I need right here.”
(Y/N) smiles and crowds even closer, pressing a kiss to his jaw.
A beat. Then–
“So that’s a no for a quickie in the locker room, then?”
(Y/N)’s laugh tastes like a standing ovation.

You Already Know, Babe
Request: Heyy would I be able to pretty please ask for a Roy one-shot based of So High School? Mainly the lyric: "Truth, Dare, Spin Bottles. You know how to ball, I know Aristotle" (bc I have TTPD brainrot) Like I'd love to picture Roy with a total academic girl who loves classic literature and ancient greece and philosophy pls ???
Roy Kent x Reader
3.3k words
Warnings: Language, Roy being insecure, the guys making Roy feel bad (not on purpose)
A/N: Ahhh I also have TTPD brainrot so I loooooove this! I made the reader a uni professor. Also been wanting to do a Bantr fic for Roy for a while, so I incorporated that in too!
Tumblr media
Roy scowled and sipped his beer. “Fuck no.”
Leaning forward in the booth they sat in, Keeley gave him her best puppy-dog eyes, the ones that stopped working the moment he got over her. “Come on, Roy. I wouldn’t suggest it if I didn’t think it’d be good for you.”
“What’s the worst that can happen?” Jamie chimed in.
“‘Fuck no’ used to be a complete sentence,” Roy growled.
Before he could stop the striker, Jamie grabbed Roy’s mobile off the table, holding it just out of the gaffer’s reach. “Just… one… moment…” he huffed as Keeley did her best to hold Roy back. “Alright, we need a username.”
Roy rolled his eyes but stopped fighting against Keeley’s grip. “How about ‘This is fucking stupid’?”
“I think that’s against their policy,” Jamie hummed, eyes still on the phone.
Keeley thought for a moment. “RoyallySarcastic? Y’know, ROYally?”
Jamie’s eyes lit up. “Oh, I got it!” He typed away before proudly showing the screen to Roy and Keeley. “RoyalPain,” he announced.
With a giggle, Keeley took the phone from Jamie and handed to Roy, who looked ready to kill his friends. “There we are Roy-o,” she said. “Welcome to Bantr.”

Roy sat at the small table, fidgeting with the shiny fork on the table and staring intently at the condensation on the glass of water in front of him. Why the fuck was he so nervous? He was Roy fucking Kent, he reminded himself sternly. He’d been on plenty of dates. Sure, this was his first Bantr date, but that shouldn’t really matter. He’d been on a couple of blind dates in the past; this shouldn’t be much different.
But it sure felt different when you walked in, all wide eyes and nervous smiles. You approached him hesitantly, cocking your head as you got closer. Your gaze flickered to the tattered copy of A Wrinkle in Time on the table next to him before settling on his face.
“RoyalPain?” you squeaked out, raising your eyebrows expectantly.
Before he could stop himself, he grinned and blurted out, “I Kant believe it’s you.” Immediately, he groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose. “Nope, fuck, that was stupid. I’m sor-”
Your laughter eased his embarrassment as you sat across from him. “Don’t you dare apologize,” you countered. “That was cute.” You offered your name with a small smile.
“Roy,” he said simply, searching your face for any sign that you recognized him.
Instead, you nodded and leaned forward. “And what do you do, Roy?”
What did he do? He tried to remember the last time someone asked him that. “I work for a football team,” he said slowly. “A.F.C. Richmond.”
You nodded, interest all over your pretty face. “And what do you do at Richmond?”
He blinked a few times and cleared his throat. “Do you… you don’t know who I am?” Fuck, he felt like an absolute asshole saying the words out loud.
“Sure I do,” you chuckled. “I just figured that Roy Kent doesn’t often get the chance to introduce himself. Thought I’d give you the opportunity.”
Roy couldn’t help but smile. Yeah, it was kind of dorky, but fuck, he liked it. Just like he liked hearing about your job as a uni professor, or the article you recently wrote about Arthurian legend, or the book you’d read recently. And he really liked the way you looked at him like he was the most fascinating thing in the world, more interesting than the well-renowned experts and authors you got to spend time with, asking him about his work and his life and his opinions. He smiled all through dinner, laughing at jokes even when they went over his head and making a mental list of books he now wanted to read.
He was still grinning as he walked you to your car after dinner, wondering when he’d last enjoyed himself so much on a date. As you fished your keys out of your purse, he found himself desperately hoping for another date with you. And another. And another.
“Could we do this again sometime?” he asked gently once your keys were in your hand.
Fuck, he loved the way your eyes lit up at his question. “Absolutely,” you breathed.
With a dizzy little nod, Roy cupped your face and tugged you close, ghosting his lips over yours. You gently laid your hands on his hips to press against him, deepening the kiss. You swore you could feel him smiling against your mouth as his thumb stroked your cheek. Some little part of you wanted to pull this man into your car, into your apartment, into your bed. But from the happy little hum that vibrated from his chest to yours, you knew you had plenty of dates ahead of you, plenty of time for all that, plenty of Roy Kent ahead of you.
~
After three weeks of dates and laughter and late-night phone calls and kisses that escalated to other things, Roy invited you to a match. He seemed weirdly nervous for a retired football legend whose dating history could fill any of the giant books that filled the shelves in your office, but you found his nerves nothing short of charming. So, you threw on some comfy jeans and a sweatshirt and climbed into Roy’s giant black car to go with him to Nelson Road, where he showed you his office before giving you your ticket and sending you off to your seat with a chaste kiss.
Roy was fighting the stupidest smile as he prepared for the match, the same stupid smile he’d been fighting since your first date. He was excited for you to see him and the Greyhounds in action, to be able to show off for you a little and, he didn’t fucking know, make you proud or some shit.
“Was that your girlfriend, Roy?” Sam raised his eyebrows as he and Jan stood in the doorway.
He cleared his throat. “No,” he said slowly. “But we’ve been dating for a few weeks.” He paused for a moment, hoping he didn’t look too dopey as he spoke. “She’s a professor. Fucking brilliant. Like, she teaches, and she’s been published and speaks at conferences.”
Jan spoke up. “Most men would not be able to handle dating a woman so much more educated than they are. Good for you, Coach. It’s nice that you are not intimidated by her clearly superior intellect.”
A knot appeared in Roy’s stomach, but he simply cleared his throat and gave a curt nod. “Yeah, well.” He blinked, not sure what the fuck he was supposed to say to that. “Best finish getting ready, hmm?”
Jan’s words continued to flutter around Roy’s mind like an annoying butterfly as he made his way out to the pitch. He liked that you were smart. Hell, he liked that you were smarter than him. He could listen to you talk for hours about literature and history and philosophy, especially when your eyes lit up and your voice got faster, the way he noticed it did when you were especially passionate about something. It was impressive, not to mention sexy as all hell. But there had definitely been moments over the last few weeks where he had to Google what you were talking about while you weren’t looking, or where he laughed at a joke he didn’t really understand. It came with the territory, he told himself. It was to be expected, dating someone like you.
And there you were, sitting in the seat Roy had selected for you, the one that gave you the perfect view of the dugout- per your request. You waved excitedly when you caught Roy’s eye, wearing that giant smile that made his heart skip a beat. He offered back a small wave, knowing full well that all the guys could see his furious blush.
“That your girl?” Colin asked, following Roy’s dreamy gaze.
Roy shrugged, turning his attention back to his team. “Uh, I guess?” he mumbled, taking the clipboard Nate handed him.
Sam spoke up. “Roy said she’s a uni professor.”
Respect covered the faces of the men that were clearly more interested in Roy’s love life than their impending match. They all started chattering over each other, ignoring Roy’s eyerolls and Beard and Nate’s amused expressions.
Richard waggled his eyebrows. “Does she offer special office hours for you, Coach?”
Roy wrinkled his nose at the Frenchman. “What the fuck is that supposed to-”
“Did you have to buy a new dictionary to keep up with her?” Zoreaux teased.
Isaac spoke up, clapping a hand on Roy’s shoulder. “Most guys would probably run for the hills if they had to keep up with a woman’s brainpower,” he started. “But Roy’s not intimidated. I mean, sure, we all know he’s no Einstein, but he’s got other great qualities. Like…”
Roy raised a cool eyebrow at the captain, more curious than offended at this point.
“Coaching,” Colin finally finished for Isaac. “He’s a great manager.”
Jamie pipped up now. “And she seems to really like looking at you, Grandad.” He nodded to the stands where, sure enough, you were still gazing at Roy, affection all over your face. “She’s cute,” he mused.
Roy cleared his throat, trying to focus attention to the match at hand and not your pretty smiles. Or the words of his players that had etched a deep frown onto his bearded face. “Alright, Greyhounds!” he hollered. “Let’s fucking focus, lads! We’ve got a fucking match to win!”
~
And they did win, much to Roy’s pleasure. Winning always felt good, but he had to admit that winning in front of a pretty girl felt fucking great. And it was even better when he found you waiting in his office, gazing at him as if you had hearts in your eyes.
“That was brilliant!” you gushed, wrapping your arms around his middle while his rested on your shoulders and tugged you close. You pressed a tiny kiss to his lips. “Thank you so much for inviting me, Roy.”
He smiled down at you and pecked your nose. “Think you’ll come again sometime?” he teased.
Your eager nodding melted his heart. “Absolutely,” you promised. “Maybe next time I’ll even wear a kit. Since I think I’m officially a Richmond fan now.”
“That kit better have a six on it,” Roy growled, smacking another kiss to your cheek. He gave you a small squeeze before releasing you. He reached down to grab your hand. “I’ve got to go talk to the press for a bit, he explained, leading you over to his desk. “D’you mind waiting here? We can grab dinner once I’m done,” he promised. “Here, you can even watch the presser on my computer.”
“Sounds perfect.” You touched his cheek and pulled him close for one more kiss. “Now get going, I want to see you be brilliant in front of all those reporters.”
Roy was still blushing when he got in front of the cameras. The press conference was a blur of questions and comments. He’d probably have to apologize to Keeley later, because he was sure he was dreamy and distracted the entire time. He couldn’t remember the last time he felt so lovesick over a woman, and he especially couldn’t remember the last time he enjoyed it so much.
When he returned to his office, he was surprised to see Jamie sitting on the edge of his desk, chatting pleasantly with you. You both lit up at the sight of him, with Jamie choosing to speak first as Roy offered a small grin to you.
“Your girl was just telling me about this seminar she’s speaking at next weekend,” he announced. “Some talk on the Lord of the Rings books and their impact on modern cinema.” He nodded to you. “It actually sounds really cool.” He slid off the desk with ease, offering you a wink. “Not sure what someone as smart as you is doing with Grandad here,” he joked.
He was kidding around. Roy knew that. Jamie loved to tease everyone, especially him. He was well-aware of the way Jamie admired him, as his childhood hero, as his coach, and, fuck it, fine, as his friend. Maybe it was all the joking from earlier, but Roy felt his face fall at Jamie’s teasing. He couldn’t help it; it was one thing for the guys to joke to his face, another to make a comment in front of you. He wouldn’t admit it even to himself, but some part of him was terrified you’d realize how brilliant you were, and how dull he was, and call the whole thing off.
Roy was so busy stewing in his childish embarrassment, he missed the way your eyebrows scrunched at Jamie, your mouth in a straight line. When you spoke, your voice was flat, maybe even a little angry, as you responded to the striker.
“I think,” you said slowly, “I’m going to dinner with him.” With that, you took Roy’s hand, hoping the adoration in your eyes would be enough to wipe that frown off his handsome features. “Ready, Roy?”
Roy nodded, but barely said a word as the two of you walked through the Dog Track, got into his car, and drove to the restaurant he’d been excitedly telling you about the day before. However, that excitement was nowhere to be seen as the two of you settled in and ordered some dinner. You cocked your head at him, wondering how someone who’d just coached such a great game could look so sullen- especially while on a date with someone he was supposed to really like.
“That match was incredible,” you offered, leaning forward with a smile. “Seriously, Roy. How do you do that? Being able to see the game unfold and know what plays to call, what players to have on the pitch. And all the preparation you have to do in advance. It’s like a really intense game of chess, with all those moving pieces, not knowing what the other side is going to do next.” You reached out and laid your hand on top of his. “Your team is so lucky to have you.”
His gaze avoided yours as he cleared his throat. “Dunno how much of it is me,” he chuckled hollowly. “I inherited a great team and have a really talented coaching staff.” He shrugged. “Sometimes I feel like I just… stand there and take up space.”
Now it was your turn to frown. This wasn’t the Roy Kent you met, the Roy Kent that teased you and smirked and made cocky comments just to make you laugh. Something had happened, something between the beginning of the match and the end, to make him so morose. Maybe something had happened in the match that you’d missed; you weren’t much of a sports fan before meeting Roy, you really only knew the basics, so it was possible what you thought was an incredible match was really something of a failure for him.
Maybe distracting him would help.
“I was telling Jamie Tartt about the conference I’m speaking at,” you tried again. “It’s this fantasy and pop culture thing. Kind of dorky,” you admitted. “But I’m really excited about my talk on Tolkien and his influence on modern cinema. My colleague was saying he really liked this one parallel I drew between Frodo and- well, I don’t want to spoil it.” You squeezed his hand. “You should come. I’ve seen you at work, now I want to show you what I do.” You shrugged. “Could even bring Jamie if you want.”
Roy nodded absently, not quite looking you in the eye. “Yeah, just make sure to get me a translator so I can understand what you’re saying.” His voice sounded like he was attempting to make a joke, but it fell flat. “Academics to neanderthal or some shit.”
That was enough of that, you decided. With a sigh, you leaned back, cocking your head at the gaffer and shooting him your sternest glare, the one you saved for students who didn’t know how to act like adults in your classroom. “Alright, Roy. What’s going on? You’re acting like you don’t want to be here, and, frankly, I don’t want to hang out with someone who doesn’t value my time.”
“I…” Roy let out a low growl and pinched the bridge of his nose. “You’re smart,” he finally blurted out. “Like, really, really fucking smart. You teach, and you’re published, and you speak in front of academic types who hang onto every word you say.” He released his nose and shook his head at you, embarrassment swimming in those brown eyes. “And I… played football. I coach football. That’s fucking it. I can’t stand the idea of you being embarrassed by the fact that I can’t keep up with you. That you’re going to turn around and realize I’m not smart enough for you.”
Your stomach twisted in knots as you took in the sight of him, looking devastated, like he was waiting for you to tell him he was right, he was a neanderthal, and that you didn’t think he was smart enough for you. If it wasn’t so sad, the picture of Roy looking so forlorn would be almost endearing.
“That,” you finally murmured, “might be the stupidest thing you’ve said since we met, Roy.” He nodded, a grimace covering his face as you went on. “Not smart enough for me?” you scoffed. “Roy, I think you’re brilliant.” You sighed and shook your head. “I mean, look at you today. I could never do what you do, managing an entire football team. And I’ve seen clips of you when you played, you were brilliant then too. Not just a skilled player, but a smart one. And from what you’ve said, you have great relationships with your players, with your niece and sister, hell even with your ex-girlfriend. That takes an emotional intelligence most people don’t have.”
“I mean-”
You shushed the gruff man. “’m not finished. And what’s this about you not being able to keep up with me? You read almost as much as I do, Roy. When you don’t know something, you immediately learn everything you can about it. You absolutely tore through ‘Le Morte d'Arthur’ after our first date so you could ask me about my King Arthur article.” A smile finally broke through your face. “So, unless this is some roundabout way of trying to say you don’t want to see me anymore, please stop insulting the man I’m dating and accept that there’s different kinds of intelligence. And I like your intelligence quite a bit.”
For a moment, you thought you may have completely overwhelmed Roy. He blinked at you with an unreadable expression before letting out a breathy chuckle. With raised eyebrows and something that looked close to a smile, he finally opened his mouth.
“I’ve just… never had such an intelligent girlfriend before,” he said slowly. “I’ve dated smart women. Driven women. But no one like you. It’s… a little scary, how brilliant you are.” That something close to a smile became a real grin as he intertwined his fingers with yours. “And really fucking sexy,” he added quickly.
Your heart skipped a beat with every word out of his mouth. “You’ve never had a nerdy girlfriend before, hmm?” you teased.
His expression was bashful, but absolutely pleased. “No,” he chuckled. “I haven’t.”
A smirk crossed your face as you batted your eyes at him. “Do you want a nerdy girlfriend?”
Those brown eyes were so soft, so full of affection as he nodded gently. “Yeah,” he breathed, raising those thick eyebrows at you. “I really fucking do.”
“That,” you hummed with a silly grin, “might be the smartest thing you’ve said all day, Roy.”

Requesting sadness 15: “I can’t do this anymore.” w/ Terry Richmond but it could be an unrequited love story that maybe was reciprocated idk
@pocketsizedpanther put NFL!Terry in my mind and this is what came up.
Tumblr media
Silence. Unusual, unbearable silence. The kind of silence that hung in the air thick like humidity in Georgia, choking the life out of every living being in its vicinity.
Silver forks scratched porcelain plates while two lovers sat across from each other trying to salvage a romantic dinner gone awry before it could ever start. Terry sensed the discomfort when he flew into town with no welcoming hug at the end of the tarmac. She left no text, no call, not even an insight into her whereabouts via Instagram stories. Only an empty space where her pretty red BMV usually sat awaiting his return.
She hadn’t been in the stands lately either. From the cloudless skies of Los Angeles to the bitter chill of Philadelphia, she was a mainstay on the sidelines, wearing his last name on her back like a badge of honor. But tickets had gone unclaimed here and there. Not enough to raise alarms, but enough for him to bring it up as they dug into the night’s dinner.
“If you wasn’t trynna be in the cold, that’s cool too. It’s just…you know. I wanted you to be there to see us win the conference. It’s kind of a big deal. First time in like six seasons or something like that. I don’t know. I just got here.”
“I’m sorry.”
“You don’t have to be sorry. I’d rather make sure you’re good than get tight over a game. Football isn’t more important than you. You straight?” He shoveled a forkful of branzino into his mouth, looking across the table for a response that she never provided. “Tia, what’s up? You feeling alright?”
“I’m fine.”
“Did I forget something?”
“No.”
“Somebody DM you something crazy? Fans bothering you again? Let me know something.”
Her distant stare slowly drifted to his face with tears welling in her waterline. “I-Terrence, I can’t do this anymore?”
“Do what? What you mean?” He knew. He’d seen the text messages and how she rushed out of the room to answer phone calls. The rumor mills and blind item reports never missed a beat. Atlanta wasn’t a city for secrets. But, he prayed that they’d been mistaken. Taking a sip of his water, he took a deep breath and repeated himself. “What can’t you do anymore? Sneak around like I can’t see you? Lie? Cheat? What is it, Tia?”
Each question came out louder than the one before, making Tia wince in her seat.
She knew he’d never put his hands on her. Terry was too sweet for that. So sweet that it made life boring. Being a kept trophy wife wasn’t her speed, but she allowed him to woo her in the VIP section of a club in Las Vegas and drag her back to a slow life full of WAG meetings and nosey neighbors. The thrill of being All Star tight end Terrence Richmond’s girlfriend lost its luster the moment engagement rings and wedding dresses became the topic of every conversation.
One-night stands turned into sneaking around during long road trips until feelings and another life threw a wrench in what was supposed to be a quick fling with someone far too stupid to be a long-term beau. She’d fucked up.
“It’s not you,” she choked out, trying to offer him some solace. “He was around when you weren’t and I-”
“Bro, don’t explain that shit to me! You don’t think I’m lonely sometimes? That I don’t meet women ready to fill a void if I snap my fingers? C’mon, Tia. This me you talkin’ to right now! Stop playing in my face!”
He was fuming and fighting to keep his emotions at bay as he paced across the lavish dining room.
Tia drew in a deep breath to calm the tears forcing a painful lump into her throat. “I’m sorry, Terry. I know I messed up. I embarrassed you and I’m so fucking sorry for that.”
“Did you fuck him?” Dread attacked their bellies simultaneously. Seconds passed so slowly that he looked over at the wall clock to make sure time wasn’t standing still. Her silence became confirmation.
She swallowed hard and nodded. “I’m pregnant. Yesterday makes eight weeks. Terry...”
“The Houston game, wasn’t it. When you said you got sick halfway through and had to leave early. You lied in front of my mama and got pregnant while she was worried about you. You fuckin’ sick in the head, Tia, what the fuck!”
Any explanation Tia intended to offer became lost in a swirl of profanity and angry shouting. Betrayed was the prevailing sentiment. All of his hopes for a family smiling back at him before pre-game intros were dashed, leaving him grieving in real-time. He blamed himself for believing that she was ready for something serious and ignoring the warnings. Now, all he had to show for his blind optimism was a broken heart.
Tia watched Terry dissolve into a near rage with tears ruining her foundation as they poured without ceasing. All of the trust, all of the love they’d built in two years together was washed away by her selfishness.
“You gotta go,” he finally managed to grit through clenched teeth. “Get the fuck out. Nah, fuck it. I’ll go. You stay until I can get some shit figured out, but you can’t stay here past the weekend.”
“Terrence! I don’t have anywhere to go!”
“That’s not my fuckin’ problem! Call your sister or that nigga or some shit, I don’t care. All I’ve ever done is take care of you. If you think you can keep makin’ a fool outta me, you got the wrong motherfucka. This shit is over. Forreal this time!”
“But, I can’t -”
“What the fuck are you fighting for, Tia? You made your decision. Deal with that shit!”
Sobbing and pleas to rethink his decision hit the condo’s walls like bricks, likely fueling a noise complaint that would be slapped on the door come morning. Tia listened to Terry rifle through drawers and closets on the hunt for enough to get him through a few nights at the Four Seasons.
He just needed to blow off some steam. They’d been in this place before, angry and screaming at the top of their lungs behind her indiscretions, only to come back together and push the pain of the past to the far recesses of their mind. But, as he stomped his way out of the front door and into the night without so much as a second look, the future became more clear.
He was gone. For good this time.
